Fifteen years ago when actress Amy Adams moved to Los Angeles, she thought maybe she might score a gig in a commercial. Little did she know she would become one of the best actresses out there today.

She probably also couldn’t fathom the idea of winning a Golden Globe, but she did just that tonight. The red-haired beauty won the award for best actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy for her role in American Hustle.

Adams plays Sydney Prosser in the film, an American who remakes herself in Britain, helping Christian Bale’s character with his cons. Things get interesting, however, when an FBI agent steps in and begins using the pair to make stings.

Looking luminous in a plunging neckline, the actress thanked a variety of people during her emotional speech, but one mention was quite notable: her daughter.

In fact, the show’s orchestra began playing its infamous “get off of the stage” music, but Adams wasn’t going anywhere until she have her biggest fan the attention she deserves.

“And most of all, you cannot play me out of talking about my daughter,” she declared. “My daughter Aviana who’s not old enough to understand this – but I love you so much … thank you for teaching me to accept joy and let go of fear.”

Adams was up against some pretty fierce competition for the award. Meryl Streep, who has won the award six previous times, was expected to take the honor.

The Twittersphere was pretty happy about her win:
