  • Despite major character and plot changes —most notably the loss of Charlie Harper, formerly played by oft-troubled actor Charlie Sheen— Two and a Half Men has managed to become one of the most successful sitcoms of the last decade. In 2011, the character of Walden Schmidt, starring actor actor Ashton Kutcher was introduced as a replace for Sheen.

Less than five months ago, CBS announced that another series regular, Angus T. Jones, who plays the son of Jon Cryer’s character Alan, would also be phased out of the series. Enter Amber Tamblyn. Cast as the late Charlie’s long-lost lesbian daughter, Tamblyn is slated to appear in five episodes, with the possibility of becoming a lead character.

The addition of a female character to the testosterone-filled sitcom is sure to create some interesting dialogue between the cast. Producer Chuck Lorre told reports at last year’s Television Critics Association’s summer press tour: “The show has had enough testosterone to last a lifetime…it would be great to have a voice on the show from a different perspective.”

Tamblyn, best known for playing sassy and quick-witted characters like Tibby in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, is a natural choice for this role.  Her character Jenny is also likely to get into some interesting situations as she struggles to make it as an actress in L.A. while trying to connect with a family she has only just met.

Fans of the beloved hit TV show House may remember Amber as the brilliant but socially awkward Martha Masters. Tamblyn took on the role during the last two seasons of the show and became a surprising favorite among the show’s cult following.

While Tamblyn is well-known for her acting chops, many fans would be surprised to know that she is also a poet with several critically acclaimed published works.

The 11th season of Two and a Half Men premiers September 26th at 9:30/8:30 CST.
