Alexa PenaVega might still be in the running for the Dancing With The Stars championship.
News of PenaVega’s possible return to the hit reality dance competition surfaced following Tamar Braxton’s announcement that she is dropping out of the show.
Earlier this week, the R&B singer and reality star addressed her followers and supporters on Instagram, saying that she had been diagnosed as having pulmonary embolism – a medical condition in which blood clots form in the pulmonary arteries, causing blockage.
“With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem,” said the caption. The photo showed Braxton laying in a hospital bed with dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy by her side.
As a result, the show’s producers are said to be in discussions on whether or not to bring back Alexa PenaVega as part of the competition. The Spy Kids actress had been eliminated on Monday along with partner Mark Ballas even after scoring perfect 10s from the judges’ panel.

Then again, Alexa PenaVega had tough competition as Bindi Irwin and partner Derek Hough also got perfect scores that night for their Chicago-themed dance routine.
In a brief interview with E! after her elimination, Alexa PenaVega talked about her six-year struggle with bulimia, which stemmed from constant pressure to lose weight for her previous film roles.
She also revealed that it was her experience with eating disorders that inspired herself and husband Carlos to join the show.
“It’s so crazy because when Carlos and I joined the show, like one, it was a journey together,” Alexa PenaVega said of their decision.

She went to add that they aspire to give hope to other people through their shared experience in the program.
“But more than anything we just kept saying, if we could just be a light for people, shine a light on marriage, shine a light on life… ,” explained Alexa PenaVega. “This is the one show where you can show something so positive and have fun and show a journey. If we could do that, that was our main goal, and I really felt like we did that, especially tonight.”
