TODAY show meteorologist Al Roker is getting a unique birthday present for this 60th birthday.
Every year, Bloomsbury Farm, in Iowa, recreates a variety of different images for a seasonal corn maze — from the Kernel’s mascot Mr. Shucks to Willie Nelson. This year, farm owners Dave and Karen Petersen decided they wanted to honor Roker on his 60th birthday for the simple reason that they think Roker “looks like a great guy.”
Always a-maize-ing, the cutting takes six hours to complete. The Maize Company, which specializes in cutting images into corn fields, took the Petersens’ idea and created the design, which includes Roker‘s face along with “Happy 60th Al.”
Apparently, the maze is usually bigger, but this year’s weather destroyed part of the field. Thankfully, enough of the field remained to create the 10-acre masterpiece that includes a two-mile path from start to finish for patrons to explore.
The maze formally opens during the Labor Day weekend and runs through Halloween.
