While growing up in Australia, I thought I would never experience an earthquake, because the occurrences of earthquakes where I lived in Victoria were quite rare; however, I live in the USA now, and my friends and colleagues back home in Australia did get to experience an unexpected earthquake that came without any warning.
According to the Australian Daily Telegraph, on Tuesday, June 19th, the small town of Moe, Victoria encountered a 5.3-magnitude earthquake that could be felt in the majority of Victorian regions. This comes as a shock to many Victorian residents, because there has not been an earthquake in Victoria within 30 years.
