The beloved Fox action-drama 24 is returning for 12 more episodes. Although the show has yet to start filming, the network has already announced that the limited event will begin on May 5th.

In addition to the 12 episode mini series, fans may be in for even more 24 with the long-anticipated film is still in the works as well.

The upcoming event is titled 24: Live Another Day, and will feature Jack Bauer fighting in intense action sequences just as he did in the original 24 that ran from 2001 until 2010.

Fans of the series are certainly expecting great things, but reboots are also never as good as the originals, and some fans might prefer to simply leave the series alone.

Howard Gordon, an executive producer on the show is excited about where the show is heading and talked about how doing something that you are proud of can take a lot of time and effort.

Gordon said “We have every hope that we are going to maintain the quality we had, but it was a marathon. It was punishing. There’s a horizon with this. With 24, you could never see the other side of the stories.”

The 24 revival will keep the same format that made the show such a groundbreaking hit, and play out in real-time as Jack Bauer attempts to save the United States. 24: Live Another Day will feature Bauer attempting to stop a terrorist attack that could change the world forever.

The series will also be set and shot on location in London, England. When the show ended, Jack Bauer was a fugitive, and now four years later, he is still on the run. He is being hunted by a CIA Agent, and is a fugitive of high order. Yvonne Strahovski will join the cast as the CIA Agent that is pursuing him.

In addition, the new 24 cast will include Mary Lynn Rajskub, William Devane, Giles Matthey, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Michael Wincott and Judy Davis.

For any 24 fans that have been going crazy in the few years that it has been off the air, they can finally find comfort in the fact that Kiefer’s Sutherland’s beloved Jack Bauer will be returning to Fox. The show will premiere on Monday, May 5th at 8 p.m.
