The zombie universe is getting ready to expand, and just in time for Halloween. The early phase of developing a spinoff series from AMC's popular The Walking Dead is currently underway. Though the series is not set for airtime until 2015, the show will be the product of the same masterminds who brought the world The Walking Dead, which includes Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, and David Alpert.
According to AMC's president, Charlie Collier, "Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer. We look forward to working with Robert, Gale, and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It's a big world and we can't wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse."
The new series will take place within the same worldview shown in the current zombie hit; however, a new cast of characters will be introduced instead of relying on shifting characters from the present popular series.
Fans are looking forward to the new show even though they will have to wait awhile before the first episode airs. Some fans have taken to Twitter in order to share their excitement about the news. Will the new show be able to continue the same fervor and following that The Walking Dead currently holds?
Now we need a Walking Dead spinoff.
