Google Lets Businesses Speed Up Videos

Google Video for Business Gets Speed Control

Google has introduced a feature for Google Video for Business that allows viewers to adjust the playback speed. There is a speed control button/slider on the video player that can be used to speed up or slow down a clip.

If you're unfamiliar with Google Video for Business, it's part of Google Apps Premiere and Education editions, and lets users share rich video information, keep videos secure and private, and collaborate on videos.

With the speed control feature, users can click the button to switch between 1.5x and real-time or drag the pop-up slider to select the speed they want. You can also drag the position marker for the video to find specific parts of the video, and the playback speed will remain the same as what you have it set for.

Google Video Speed Control

"Have you ever wanted to watch a training video, but didn't feel you could take the time for it?" asks Daniel Steinberg of the Google Video Team. "Ever wished a slow speaker would talk just a little faster? Or maybe you'd like to skim through a presentation at high speed until you got to something really interesting."

It would be nice if Google would implement a speed control feature on YouTube videos. It would make sense given the much larger audience for these.

Sound good. Much

Sound good. Much appreciated, if the similar option is available in YouTube, since it has the maximum audience.

Video Playback Control Features

We definitely need this feature on all videos- especially YouTube videos. It makes a lot of sense and only would effect the people who chose to use it.

Videos are such an awesome collaboration of technology, especially on the web, but I think the reason some people still prefer to look through a PDF or written document is because they can skip and skim through the information until they get what they need out of it.

This is a powerful thing to consider when you're trying to learn something or simply sorting through a lot of content information, so having speed control (especially) would make the whole video experience significantly enhanced for those who chose to use it!
