WordPress Blogging Pipeline & Projections
By Andrew Wee
One of the WordPress development team, Ryan Born, noted in his post WordPress 2.2 Release Candidate 1 will not include a tagging feature, the next version could include a comprehensive taxonomy framework which could open up the field for interesting plugins.
The year has been an interesting one for WordPress bloggers with the release of about 5 major and incremental upgrades since the start of the year.
Google Desktop on Mac
After getting my new Mac yesterday, I am pleased to see that Google has just started supporting these beautiful machines. I’m a fan of Google Desktop, having used it on my last two machines and I enjoyed it quite a bit. However, I am disappointed to see that the Mac version will have no widgets or the toolbar yet. Being an organized sort, I rarely had the need to use the Google search on my desktop. My primary joy with the package was the widgets.
Comedy Central Opens Online Joke School
Just when you thought the Internet was full…Today, Comedy Central opened up an online joke school for the humor impaired.
Marking yet another stop along the way to TV/Internet content integration, while taking advantage of the broadband boom and the online community meme, the all-comedy cable network's "Crash Course In Comedy" is an interactive online comedy school "for wannabe standup comedians."
Yahoo Rolls Out Widgets 4
By Joe Lewis
Yahoo has announced extensive updates to its cross-OS widget platform, changes which are aimed at improving performance, increasing functionality, and providing new features and services to users.
Of all the new releases in Widgets 4, the Flickr Widget is probably the one that shows the most promise. It allows users to display, upload and tag Flickr photos, as well as giving users the option of dragging and dropping large groups of photos into the widget and edit the tags and other information without needing to open a browser.
Book Publishers Half-way Getting it
They may not be all the way there yet, but at least HarperCollins and Random House — both ultimately owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. — are trying to bring books into the Web era with their new “browsing” widgets.
MySpace Beginning to Block Widgets?

As the number of MySpace users continues to grow, however, the company is becoming less inclined to allow third parties to use their social networking site as a marketing platform for their services. Last weekend, MySpace began blocking widgets from Vidlife, Stickam, Revver, and Imeem.
Widgets - Battering Ram for Social Networking
When on a social networking panel last week I said something that can be seen as stupid or insightful.
Yahoo Answers Unicef And Widgets Vista
They have long supported charitable works by their employees and users, with the latest effort combining star power and Yahoo Answers to bolster the Up Close 2007 campaign to benefit Unicef.
2007 Linkbaiting
By Andy Beal
I don't know who's smarter, Nick Wilson for writing this excellent post on linkbaiting tactics for 2007, or Danny Sullivan for persuading him to publish this post (which is blatant linkbait itself) on Search Engine Land. Regardless, it's a great read.
