Skype Breaks Record with 29 Million Users Online

Skype has broken a new record, hitting 29 million people online. On Skype’s "Big Blog", Peter Parkes writes:

We’ve passed another milestone – at approximately 1800 GMT yesterday, there were more than 29 million people online on Skype. Another record broken, and an opportunity for us to remind you that you can get Skype in all sorts of places – on your computer, on your mobile and even on your TV.

Skype for Mac – New Version Available for Download

Skype just released a new version of Skype for Mac, which no longer carries the beta label. It also introduces group video calling (as part of a premium package). 

That package also includes live chat customer support, a seven-day free trial, and the option to either purchase a day pass starting at $4.99 or a monthly subscription at $8.99 a month.

The feature is specifically designed for businesses who are shifting to an anytime/anywhere workplace model to increase employee productivity and collaboration, a spokesperson for the company tells WebProNews.

"Video calling has emerged as a very popular way for people to communicate online," said Mike Bartlett, director of product strategy for Skype.
