HBO To Offer Shows On iTunes

HBO has reached a deal with Apple to offer half a dozen of its shows on iTunes.Programs that will be available from HBO on iTunes include "The Sopranos," "Sex and the City," "Deadwood," "Rome," "Flight of the Conchords" and "The Wire."

Expanding their ongoing marketing partnership, Starbucks and iTunes yesterday announced Pick of the Week, offering coffeehouse customers free downloads and videos. Upcoming Pick of the Week artists include Carly Simon, Duffy, Counting Crows, Adele, Sia, and Hilary McRae.

MySpace announces that they will launch MySpace Music, a service to rival Apple’s popular iTunes music player and marketplace. Like iTunes, MySpace Music will feature streaming music, paid DRM-free MP3 downloads and music-related merchandise.

Disney has made a projected $123 million in sales of video via Apple iTunes.The estimate comes from comments that Disney CEO Bob Iger made at the Digital Hollywood Media Summit. Iger said Disney has sold 4 million movies and 40 to 50 million videos through iTunes, since it made content available on the service in 2006.

MySpace In Talks To Launch Free Music Service

MySpace is in discussions with major record labels to develop a new ad supported service that would allow its users to listen to music for free on their computers.The News Corp company has been in talks with Universal Music, Sony BMG, Warner Music and EMI, according to people familiar with the situation.
