    The 29-year-old actor’s body was found in his apartment by police after Young did not show up on the set of Rizzoli & Isles Monday morning. Police confirm the actor died from a gunshot wound.

    Jonathan Baruch, Young’s manager, said in a statement, “It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning. Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends at this very difficult time.”

    Young played Boston police detective Barry Frost on the hit TNT crime-drama Rizzoli & Isles, which had just been picked up for a fifth season.

    Creator, writer, executive producer & showrunner of Rizzoli & Isles, Janet Tamaro, shared the grief of the cast and crew over the death of Young. “We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. … Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace.”

    She also shared her feelings on her personal Twitter account.

    Stars who knew and worked with the actor voiced their sadness on Twitter as well.

    Other stars reminded people that there is always someone you can talk to if you are depressed.

    Young rose to fame after starring as Jett Jackson in the Disney series The Famous Jett Jackson. He also starred as Chris Comer in the film adaptation of Friday Night Lights.
