Lexi Thompson dominated the greens at Sunday’s Kraft Nabisco Championship.

This is the fourth LGPA Tour win for the 19-year-old who finished at 14-under 274. Thompson holds the title for the second youngest major winner at the LGPA Tour. The record holder is Morgan Pressel, who set the record in 2007 when she was just 18 years old.

Thompson opened the game with a 73, got her best tournament score with a 64 on Friday, and finished with a 69 on Saturday, which placed her in a tie for the lead with Michelle Wie. In Thompson’s last 55 holes, she had only one bogey that happened on Saturday when she missed a 3-foot for part on the 18th hole. “When I had a bad hole, I’d just fight right back,” the champion said.

Thompson was ecstatic about her win. “This is what I’ve worked so hard for,” she said. “This was one of my goals coming into the year, to win a major.”

Wie, on the other hand, said that she stuck with the game plan that she thought of and still thinks it was the right play. “That’s the way golf is. I just couldn’t get anything going today,” she said. Despite not winning, Wie said that she is proud of herself.

Thompson has gained three wins in her last 12 starts, with the two latest wins being in Mexico and Malaysia last season. She also won in the Navistar LGPA in 2011 when she was just 16-years-old, which made her the youngest champion in tour’s history. However, the title was broken when Lydia Ko won the Canadian Women’s Open in 2012 when she was 15-years-old.

“I’m really looking forward to the future,” said Thompson. On Sunday afternoon, she capped off her day by cannonballing into Poppie’s Pond for the customary victory leap.
