  • Tarzan’s Jane has nothing on Katy Perry! Yesterday on Saturday Night Live, the platinum-selling singer’s lauded performance spoke volumes. Perry’s Saturday Night Live performance has been highly anticipated by millions across the country. But, judging from Twitter, no one was more excited than the “Fireworks” singer herself. She tweeted numerous times in the hours leading up to her return to SNL. From dress rehearsal, all the way up to the minutes before she hit the stage, she kept the fans with her every step of the way.

Perry’s first set was exactly what the fans wanted. She performed her eighth No.1 charting single, “Roar.” In a jungle-themed backdrop, Perry ripped the stage, taking fans into the visual world of the “Roar” music video. The SNL stage was transformed into a tropical paradise with vibrant greenery and lush palm trees. Adorned in animal print, Perry performed with a live band and full background singers.

Perry also did a second performance, introducing her latest dance track, “Walking on Air.” Released Sept. 30 via iTunes, “Walking on Air” was declared a promotional single for Perry’s highly anticipated album, “Prism,” reports Billboard. Perry stripped out of the jungle look, trading her animal print for plaid. She took fans straight to the club with the heart-pounding, 90s-influenced, retro Eurodance-house beat of the song. It was also noted that 90s singers Crystal Waters and CeCe Peniston were dominant inspirations for the record.

Perry also tweeted “Goodnight” to the world after her second set. Her latest album, “Prism” is set to be released October 22.
