Facebook Has a New Feature for Page Exposure

Facebook Suggests Pages to Like

Update 2: Facebook has now officially launched the Page Browser. They have added a couple of features as well. Here’s the announcement.

Update: The page appears to have been removed. This may just be a feature that Facebook is testing. We’ll update when we learn more.

Original Article: Facebook has launched a new feature for content discovery. If you go to facebook.com/pages/browser.php, you can "discover Facebook’s popular pages".

Users can browse popular pages by categories like musicians, sports, celebrities, movies, TV shows, media, politicians, brands, and games. If you browse "all", however, the results appear to be more personalized, including things your friends like or things that you are somehow connected to.

Users can mouse over any of the images for the results, and like the corresponding pages.

Page Discovery on Facebook

The feature could go a long way in encouraging more likes for pages, and that could be crucial to Facebook as a search tool, considering other features the company has been testing.

Be careful when browsing the new page, because if you click on any of the results, you automatically "like" them.

The page also shows you which of your friends are most "similar to you". It displays how many mutual likes your top frinds have.

Facebook is becoming he new search Engine, so many SEO companies should be focusing on the Facebook algorithm’s.
I am totally against there auto like feature as it ads you before you have even read the page and could be something you totally disagree with.

I agree, Facebook is turning little by little into a search engine. I wish they would just officially start one. I’d leave Google on a heart beat. I love Facebook.

The link leads to this “The page you requested was not found.”

Did Facebook pull the plug on this already?

  5. I tried to go there and it keeps saying Page not found. Could be my computer. Anyway, I think facebook has done wonders for bringing people onto the internet who never were before. Or they only used it for emailing family. If it makes you “like” a page, at the bottom there is an “unlike” button just click that. I have done that myself more than a few times. I love facebook too and have created 4 business pages for my various interests. I will be adding more. One thing is that as a search engine you can see what others think of the business before you buy. Oh, one more thing, it is so easy to work with!

  9. This is another step in the evolution of how people use the internet. Most people don’t “surf the web” anymore. They start at facebook and generally don’t leave. It brings back the word of mouth effect and will make search engines obsolete. As it is now, search engine results are unreliable when searching for generic terms. If you know exactly who or what you are looking for, then google is the place to be. But if you are looking for something unspecific, like “best local ______ business”, you’ll only get results from sites that have at least some half decent SEO.
Even though my internet marketing company in Pittsburgh offers SEO services, I welcome this evolution. (We only do legit SEO and won’t touch a site unless it already has good content or will let us create quality content).

I haven’t read the article yet but did the headline and I see the word “browser”. Man, I’m not Google and that sends chills through my body. Imagine Google folks. Let’s see what this browser is all about.
