Emma Stone played an amazing Gwen Stacy in recent Spiderman installations. However, many thought we'd seen the last of Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy when Stacy was killed off in the most recent movie.
But, fans of the Spiderman movies should think twice before writing her off. Yes, she had to go to make way for Mary Jane Watson, but in a recent editorial at ComicBookMovie.com, the author says that this doesn't have to be the end for Emma Stone.
The author observes, "Within the fictional universe, Gwen Stacy's death has enormous repercussions. From day one we all knew that Gwen Stacy will die and be replaced by Mary Jane Watson in the Webb franchise. Well now Captain Stacy and Gwen Stacy have both died so you must be thinking that we will [not] see Mary Jane in the next instalment (sic); well you’re wrong."
He adds, "Due to the successful response from Peter and Gwen's relationship I believe that the writers will bring back Gwen Stacy. Wait what? Yes, there are many storylines in comics were we have seen Gwen Stacy return after her death; it's comics after all."
Interesting! If you are familiar with Spiderman only through movies, this is a revelation!
Apparently one scenario could go something like this. The author points out, "Miles Warren was secretly in love with Gwen. Following her death, Warren grows increasingly insane and adopts the persona of the Jackal who had managed to create a clone of Gwen."
However, a more plausible situation, according to the same author, would look a little more like this:
"The Chameleon's most ambitious hate against Spider-Man happened when he formed an alliance with Harry Osborn; Harry told Chameleon Spider-Man's secret identity could be found through Peter Parker, so he constructed androids of Peter Parker's parents. The plan led to a psychotic breakdown for Spider-Man. After tricking Spider-Man to the bridge where his first love Gwen Stacy died, Chameleon threw himself off the bridge. He reappeared some time later in a mental institution, completely incapacitated."
"I believed from the start this story should be included in the franchise. Now that Gwen is dead. It makes more sense for it to be Gwen Stacy instead of Peter's parents. Because it would really hit Peter hard if his future villains bring up Gwen's death causing Peter to have a huge breakdown when he is fighting the villains."
What do you think? Would you like to see Emma Stone make a reappearance as Gwen Stacy in the next Spiderman movie? What would a good storyline be to bring her back, in your opinion?
