Dog Shaming: Because Your Dog Is A Jerk

Dog shaming is all the rage now, apparently, as it was featured on “Today” with Kathie Lee and Hoda after photos of pets plastered with their bad deeds went viral on the web. And while some people think it’s mean, most just think it’s a funny way to call out pets for being adorable little jerks.

Anyone with a pet knows they like to get up to shenanigans, especially when they have the house to themselves. My dog, Danzig, is particularly fond of eating trash (used Kleenex seems to be like a fine delicacy to him), stealing my daughter’s food when she’s distracted, and sneaking into my office to steal Blow Pops. We love him dearly, and I’m sure he (mostly) just does it for attention, but damn it gets old.

Dog shaming is actually not a new thing; Will Ferrell introduced us to it back when he was on SNL.

If the dog owners would learn how to train their animals, they would not have a reason to shame their animals. It actually should be owner shaming. When a dog is left in the back yard all by himself and barks incessantly, whose fault is that? When dogs dig in the trash or tear up your couch, whose fault is that? Dogs are pack animals and most need a ton of exercise. There is only two reasons that dogs do the things I mentioned, lack of exercise or being left alone.

    • Trinity

Right on Susan!!! Couldn’t have said it better myself!!

    • http://yahoo lyn johnson

Some people WORK ALL DAY…..So take your higher attitude elsewhere

    • Wig

My dogs are trained, they are still going to be dogs. Just like humans do stupid or goofy things, dogs will too. No matter the training, unless we want a world of service dogs. Dog wants people food instead of the kibble? Eats trash. Dog wants outside *bark* dog wants inside *bark* it’s not the owners fault all of the time. None of these are about bad training “I welcomed the new hedgehog to the house by tryoing to eat her, mom pulled quills out for an hour.” led to hedgehog shaming “I chase the dog around the house because she is now scared of me!”
Please train the hedgehog. animals do funny things. sometimes they do it for attention, sometimes they just decide to do stuff. By saying they only do things for two reasons, you undermine their intelligance, dogs are smart, they have all sorts of motives. people like you claim to love dogs but want us to treat them like they are ignorant and need to be trained to do and not to do anything. I think you need training, sensitivity training.

  • Nancy

I cannot believe what I am seeing. As a psychologist, I must think transference of our own shame to that of pets. After all, they look so cute and cannot defend themselves (or understand) the embarrassment. As a viewer of media, it must contain some shock value. It has no other value and I am embarrassed to see that this has become a popular trend for humans with pets. It shows no respect, self or otherwise. It is sad behavior, for both humans AND their dogs.

    • Sue

You are taking it too seriously, Nancy. I bet you don’t own a dog. This will be gone in a flash, and some other “thing” will take its place.

    • autumn

Really Nancy. You claim to be a psychologist. Please tell me you aren’t that ignorant.

    • http://yahoo lyn johnson

Okay if I ever need a psychologist.I will stay clear of you NANCY!! Seriously, I help and LOVE all animals and you are being a drama queen

    • Wig

Your sentance structure is off. Please re-read your diploma and make sure you graduated. Thank you.

  • Fuzzy Mutt

You humans have balls calling us stupid when you pick up OUR poop!

The Animal Creation Consortium (ACC) has had a meeting with God listing our grievances against the “intelligent species” on Earth!

    God listened. Humans are toast!

  • will

  • Lori

This is just plain sad. SHAME goes only to the dog owners who treat their pets in this way. In an alternate universe, I wonder how many shameful acts dogs could catch their owners in??

    • Tech

I totally agree with you. I have a rescue dog that is so loving and appreciative to have a home. Yes, he had accidents when he was a puppy, and sometimes gets on the couch to pull down a blanket or article of clothing to “feel” close to use when we’re at work. But I would NEVER post a picture like this. Marco Polo showers us with love and I would never post shameful pictures of my dog (Marco Polo) on the Internet.

  • Cajungirlaway

Seriously…do any of these people have a sense of humor? It is not about transferring guilt or training, it is about animals displaying animal behavior. I have labs and although they get tons of exercise everyday and are trained therapy dogs, given a chance they will eat anything they can. If you would even look at the website you can see that all of those animals look happy, healthy, and well cared for dispite the mischief that they get into. If the owner was really upset with the animal or tranferring failures, do you really think that the animal would still be around to pose for pictures? Lighten up and don’t be the know-it-all, self righteous, d-bag that no one wants to be around.

  • Prudence

Real journalists don’t stoop to using the word “bu**hole” to make ANY point.

  • Mark Ingold

Are you people kidding me? Do the dogs actually feel shame because their owner made a sign and took a picture? It’s funny. It’s a meme. I don’t think any of these dogs self-esteem has been lowered by a sign and a picture.

Nancy, are you serious? Does this really tell you that much about a person’s mental state? It’s a FUNNY PICTURE! How about the guy with the picture of his baby made up like a sandwich? Does that suggest some deep seeded cannibalistic desires he has?

Get real people. It’s funny. I honestly can’t wait to get home from work and make a few signs for my dogs. (NOTE: I WILL NOT ACTUALLY BE SHAMING THEM, OR CAUSING THEM ANY MENTAL ANGUISH…ONLY DRAWING A SIGN AND TAKING A PICTURE. PLEASE DON’T CALL PETA ON ME!)

    • http://www.specializedvideos.com Scott

Ideas spread because of cultural conditioning. I guess you stupid humans that keep using words like meme and ignore the true science of B.F. Skinner that explained all human behavior, proves humans are stupid and dogs are smart. Thanks for proving my point! BTW even though a dog would probably make a better point, your example pretty much hits the nail on the head, people are so stupid! Your right and wrong unlike any dog!

      • Mark Ingold

No arguments there. I’m positive my German Shepherd is smarter than me. She tricks my wife and I into double feedings. Very sneaky. Dangit I love that bitch.

      • Wig

That was Sigmund Freud. ‘Unlike humans who are incapable of showing true affecton” or something to that effect. Humans and dogs are very similar, I think of dogs like kids, only less irritating. They do goofy stuff, and we show others. “Look at my little weirdo! I love my dog!” And how are humans right and wrong unlike any dog? That makes no sense. Leave the PETA headquarters, their computer is acting up.

  • http://www.specializedvideos.com Scott

People are stupid, dogs are smart and loveable.

Dogs can’t read. DUH. The signs aren’t causing them any shame at all. But they know when they’re being scolded. If your dog does something naughty, all you have to do is set up a sign beside the dog hang it around his neck, scold him, wait for a ‘guilty’ expression, and take his picture. It’s a simple harmless way to vent your frustration and get co-miserate sympathy from fellow pet owners online. “Look what Rex did! BAD dog!”. You could try the same thing with cats, but, it’s hard to get them to sit still long enough for a photo-op, let alone look guilty. “BAD Kitty!” “Who, me?”.*lick-lick*groom*.

  • Stella

OMG! They are dogs! They can’t read and they don’t get on the internet. It’s joke! If their owners didn’t love them they would not take the time to make a sign, take the picture and load it onto the site. I think we have much more important things to worry about than this.

  • Barbara

What a stupid thing to do. As the British king, George III, said: The more I know of human nature, the more I love my dogs.” Exactly.

  • Muriel Hislop

I think it’s just for fun. I wish more people would just laugh not overthink everything!

    • Mark Ingold

      THANK YOU!

      • http://yahoo lyn johnson

        Exactly…They need a stiff drink

  • Norman

This sounds like it should be a story from Onnion News not CNN.

  • Margie L. Cattouse

I absolutely love it. Wish my MoKo were alive so I could shame him. He chewed up a pair of $150 new high heels leaving the $20 Payless shoes right next to them alone.

    • linda

      love it!! thanks for posting.

  • Cathy

I had two Boxer siblings. Princess was deaf, but she was trained as a search and rescue dog. Since she couldn’t hear me call her I would send her brother to find her (under the bed, under bushes, etc.). The joke was the search dog had her own search dog.
One day I came home and apparently they decided we were going to have spaghetti and bread for dinner. They got into a 2 lb. bag of raw pasta and a 5 lb. bag of flour. What a mess, but all I could do was laugh and love them even more.

  • Wendy

If the dog knows it or not isnt the point… Not for me anyway… I do have some concerns why someone wishes to SHAME anything! and no.. I have ALOT of concerns why someone would enjoy shaming something… As people are saying.. the dog doesnt know… But the person that is doing knows it.. the people that see them doing it knows it… and it reveals ALOT about the person that Does it and the person that THINKS its funny! Are there seriously people out there that feel so low and worthless they need to verbally shame a dog to make themselves feel better?? Wow.. SAD!!

    • Wig

Alot, isn’t a word. A lot is the correct spelling. SHAMED. But hopefully you didn’t feel to bad about it, as it was just pointing something out. While the website is called Dogshaming, it’s not about shame. It’s like reading Marley And Me. It highlights all the goofy stuff. If the website was called s*** my dog does, or My goofy best friend, people wouldn’t care, this isn’t a punishment, nor is it shaming, it is a highlight reel of all the goofy things our pets do and that we want to share with other owners. I willingly admit that my smallest one gets angry when a person on television says anything negative about the Queen of England. I would put that on a sign, because it is weird, and silly, and shows a little bit about my prized, fuzzy, (sometimes evil) little sister.

  • BEBE

Daphy my doxi…who has a looong nose not only likes to watch… she gets to way to close…we now we call her dildo!!! she earned it!!!

  • http://www.mcgruff.org/ McGruff

Not funny! We dogs have very serious jobs. These are hurtful speciesists and continue to perpetuate the stereotype that ……

    SQUIRREL!!!! Got to go!

    • mike

    • Squiggy’s Mom

      Catch that thievin’ rodent!

  • mike

This is the funniest website I’ve found all year. What is even funnier is the parade of “dog rights” loonies who just POUR out of the woodwork. My God people, how do you get through life without jumping off the nearest building, if you perceive this as an injustice!! Your world must be a horrible horrible place!

All those dog-slaves with a ROPE AROUND THEIR NECKS!
Pigeons forced to EAT OFF THE STREET!!

Seriously, get a F#$^%$ life! Find a problem that actually IS a problem, and do something about that! You know who you are, Barbara, and Stella, and Scott, and Prudence, and Nancy (omg NANCY!?!), and
Susan and Trinity and Jude. Please seek professional help, you may have legitimate psychological issues that can be addressed.

Cajungirlaway, PLEASE let me know when the dogs get the human-shaming site set up, I would give ANYTHING to see a website run by dogs!

Fuzzy Mutt has me worried, tho….do you know something the rest of us don’t…>.>……..<.<…..

    • Wendy

What a sad person you are thinking that animals suffering is a funny thing to you… and NO I am not talking about this.. But people like you are as I said below need a little help.. I didnt say anything about the dogs feelings being hurt.. if you knew how to understand what you’re reading.. You may have picked up on that… What I said was.. People that enjoy SHAMING ANYTHING.. to boost up there whatever they need boosting up is sad.. Also people like you that enjoy watching someone trying to make themselves feel better by talking down to something.. You are just like them.. and I am VERY thankful that I am NOTHING like you.. My God People.. how do you get thru life without jumping off the nearest building knowing you have no compassion?? Wow the idiots crawling out of the woodwork.. like Mike here!! So Mike.. if shaming a dog makes you feel like a big bad man… I think you may wish to seek some help with that! Id think you would have to be thinking that youre a very low person….. Hey.. why not go shame a MAN your size… same something that is your equal.. and can “shame” you back… No?? Dont want to do that?? Thats the way cowards do.. you sad LITTLE man/boy. BTW.. reply all you want back to me.. but I have already wasted enough time on you.. so what ever you write back….. Ill never read it.. because you are NOT worth it!

      • Cajungirlaway

Mike- I think Wendy just broke up with you?

      • Stella

I am agreeing that it is funny. I meant we have better things to worry about than a cute site that makes people laugh. My human mom is making me a sign and posting it on there.

      • Bella

Wendy, I’m guessing you’re not a dog owner? ‘Cause they eat poop, eat their own barf (and other’s), roll in anything stinky, etc. Dogs do things humans find weird and gross, and we love them anyway! The dog shaming site is funny because it’s true, not because the dogs are ashamed. The dogs have no idea. It’s a way for dog owners to reach out to others and air their dog’s dirty little secrets and laugh together about them. I have 3 dogs I love more than anything. I think this site is hysterical.

      • Wig

it’s a joke. people are looking to far into it. I’ll rant at my dogs for eating my shoes, then I pat them on the head and we watch spongebob so they know I’m not mad anymore. Posting this online is just a funny expression of love. “Look at my fuzzy Pumpkin and its goofy antics” People took the time to write these out to show others. Theya are funny, only the people complaining are the ones who read the posts and go “Oh my god! That horrible dog, why would anybody post this?” Instead of the ones who find it funny and go “I can’t believe the little dog did that! Wow, what a character.” Maybe you should wear a sign that says “Judgemental Jerk.”

    • Cajungirlaway

I think we can all agree that dogs- especially mine- do not need a public venue to shame owners. lol

The texts from a dog website is pretty funny though.

  • mike

and btw @Amanda Crum, best title for an article, EVER!!!

    • Suzie

I so agree Mike. We all love our crazy loveable pets and what they do that drives us crazy and makes us laugh our ****ss off. What would we do without them. People are reading way too much into this.

  • Tech

These pictures are shameful and disgusting. Dogs and cats are loving animals that want to please their owners and shower them with love. These SICK PEOPLE think it’s funny to post shameful pictures of their pets for fun. I hope every dog that’s shamed by the owner with these pictures BITES you in the A.. becuase you DESERVE IT !!!

SHAME ON YOU – you don’t deserve the love and companionship of these dogs.

    • Mark Ingold

Please tell me you are not serious…As stated below, if someone didn’t truly love their dog, they wouldn’t bother making a sign and taking a picture. When did people get so sensitive about such silly stuff? My dogs get treated better than most peoples children, but you can bet I’m going to be hanging some signs tonight!

    • http://yahoo lyn johnson

Tech…I am a huge animal person and spent my whole life saving and helping any animal in need….YOU need a drink of wine to cool down over something harmless and very funny…All I can say is I’m glad I don’t live with you…

    • Wig

Dear Tech, you are an idiot.
It’s a joke, my roomate recently left me a note on the door explaining that the children in the next hard can’t hurt me. I don’t like kids they freak me out, and I love my roomie to death. I laughed, then sent the picture of the note to everyone. It’s funny stress releif, I describe my fuzzy babies as little boogers sometimes. it’s like posting a picture of your baby crawling out of a cereal box, it’s funny. And meant as a joke. Get over yourself. Nothing was harmed and I bet the animals in these pictures got a treat for staying when their owners said to to take a picture.

  • al rotundo

  • Chris

I don’t believe you people! I have two dogs I love very much; however, this website is funny.

Did you know dogs don’t read??? They don’t know what be shamed is??

They are dogs!!! Get a life.

    • DJ Bazemore

The dogs don’t even know they are being shamed in public, so just get the entertainment factor out it people. I agree Chris…GEE WHIZ!!

  • danana

ha! most “shameful”acts belong ro the..owners.when they misbehave is because YOU PEOPLE DON`T TAKE THEM FOR WALKS LONG ENOUGH to spend their energy!!sim-plee.

    • Nick

umm some if not most of the dogs were outside walking with their owners, and how do you know they don’t walk them long enough anyways?

  • Kelly

We always know when Molly’s been up to something–instead of greeting us at the door with her tail wagging, she hides in her cage. She especially loves chewing up kleenexes & napkins, but it was embarassing when I had to call the doctor and tell him I needed a new copy of a prescription because the dog ate it.

  • john

If you think this is wrong to do to animals go kill yourself because you have no life.

    • Lolo

Go kill yourself? How old are you?

  • Barbara

Dog shaming: Because the owner is a jerk.

  • Gale

Hiarious. Every dog owner should enjoy this.

  • Tracie

I think..oh wait..I have to chew my butt…ok..Im back..I think that any human that can catch a dog doing funny stuff is amazing, if my toes were a little longer just think of the stuff I could take pictures of you humans doing when you think I am not looking..wait..back to my butt…then to my girlfriends butt..and a scratch behind my ear, ok . Im back..and get off your soap boxes before i eat them…and have a smelly cat day.

  • Jack Wackawack

    These people are dog pimps

  • http://yahoo lyn johnson

I came home from work a bit ago and as I am sitting here on my computer, I looked down and my dog peed on my makeup bag that was on the floor!!! Mickee,,,I still love you sweetie

    • Jen Jen

Maybe that’s a sign that instead of you coming home from a day of working and then sitting down at your computer, you need to take your dog outside first?

      • http://yahoo lyn johnson

        Oh please…lighten up

  • erin

    this is completely stupid!
how about people shaming when they kill animals? or when they cant take care of their animals?
there are no shame in animals, only people.

  • diana

Pets should be treated just as one of your children. You chose to have them as part of your family. Having saying that, would you do this to your child? Would you post all the “bad” things your child did? Be nice to your fur-baby and post only the cute things please, they have feeling too!

    • http://yahoo jack carter

I agree diana . These people are sick ! they certainly do have feelings I don’t care what my puppy does he still loves u know matter what he does, and I still love him he can do anything to please u.

    • Chrystal

Because the dogs can read what’s written about them, right?

    • Patriots suck

dOGS ARE NOT PEOPLE you idiot! they are pets!

      • diana

pets are smarter than you think, of course some of them can not read, but they know!

    • Wig

Ever seen Americas funniest home videos? If my kid broke a window with a shovel it would be online too. These people obviously love their pets and are sharing goofy antics with others. I laughd at these. I have a dog that changes the channel to Bubble Guppies every morning, it’s cute. Irritating, but cute. There is no harm meant by these, they are like groaner jokes.

  • Janne’

This idea of entertainment is disgusting and just one more indication of why MANY people should be prohibited from owning dogs. Dogs don’t behave “badly” unless they’re bored or sick. You people are showing your ignorance! Unfortunately, people aren’t required to get any training before they become dog owners…or before they become parents.

    • FANNE

    • http://yahoo Hal McKee

Hal McKee I totally agree. a lot of people should not have pets, they do not know how to work with them and train them.

  • Curtis

Its just stupid. These stupid people are shaming themselves not their dogs. What a bunch of dorks.

    • http://yahoo lyn johnson

To the people who are “disgusted” and “sickened” by this web site: you all obviously just can’t take a joke.

This is the lamest crap i have ever seen, what has this world come too? Sometimes i think i really want to trash my computer, Do you think the Dog really cares? Or anybody else. My god, admitting your dog licks his feet during sex??Wheeeoooww.

  • kimmie Clark

it is dog owners that need to be shamed. For thinking their dogs are not dangerous or a nuisance to neighbors or pedestrians. If you choose to own a dog in San Francisco or a crowded city you need to think about how much space your dog has to live in. How often are you home. Do you even hire a pro dog-walker when you work 12 hour days at a dot.com? Unhappy dogs act out and are not only bad pets, but bad neighbors. In SF people think it is cool to bring their dogs to grocery stores and restaurants to show how in touch with nature they are. Nature farts and parks and pees on the floors. Oh, not my dog!. Yes, all dogs. Don’t buy a dog to be a chick or dude magnet on the weekends and be a prisoner of a studio apartment the other 6 days of the week. Dogs act out for a reason. Usually neglect and aggression from the owner. I’ve moved twice because the barking and flies and rodents (from leaving food bowls outside 24-7) became intolerable. In SF I’m the bad-guy. It’s cool to take Ghandi for a walk off-leash, but car accidents are the leading cause of canine death. When I saw a cool dude with his pitbull off-leash on a crowded street (the most crowded street) in SF. I said “you need a leash” he said “not my dog bro” and continued to scream directions at the poor dog, born with jaws of steel, who was not obeying. Don’t buy a dog for ego. Buy a dog because you love dogs and have something to offer – time.
With animals who live by genetic instinct it is not quality over quantity. Neglected dogs, bark, run back and forth on hardwood floors, and pee, poop and chew up the house. Happy dog? Over a half a million people, mostly children, end up in the emergency room every year because of dog attacks and maulings. I know, “not my dog”. Yes, your dog! Love it, or leave it with a caring owner. Care about your neighbors. If someone has no concern about the quality of life of neighbors, what do they care about? Obviously not much except themselves. Most dog owners in cities are narcissist who don’t care about dogs, they are just following a trend, like tattoos or piercings. So what every you want that hurts you. But only egomaniacs do things that hurt animals and neighbors. Bad owners should be shamed, not the animals they abuse.

    • Hmmmm

You have some major issues. Consider therapy. In the meantime, take a deep breath, look at the dog-shaming website and laugh. The site is a way for good owners to release a little stress caused by their pet’s moderately ‘bad’ behaviors. It helps all owners realize their pet is not the only one sneaking an entire stick of butter (the one you needed to bake cookies for work tomorrow- it was the last on in the house and now you’re up a creek) off the kitchen table. It helps GOOD OWNERS COLLECTIVELY LAUGH AT NORMAL, ALBEIT FRUSTRATING, PET BEHAVIORS. PS- never had the problems you described when I lived in Chicago, Indianapolis, Houston, El Paso, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Dallas, Phoenix- maybe try a new city if the people of SF are so incredibly awful, as you describe them in your post?

    • Patriots suck

Kimmie you are 100% correct and thank you for saying what you did. I live in san diego and I notice these people bringing their fleabag into stores all the time. They have destroyed the grass areas around my condo and bark all the time during the day which I can hear throughout my condo complex. I am sick of dogs and their stupid owners.

    • jules

      You are so right on!

  • lizzy

Animals have souls. Shame on the people who think this is “funny.” Humans don’t want to be mistreated, so why would a precious gift from GOD?

    • Hmmmm

      You are the ultimate hypocrite.

      • Tatiana

hmmmm I am a vegan arsehole! think again-if you can. I doubt it!

        • Wig

Tatiana, this is not the place for a PETA spokeswoms. You are only making an arse of yourself. Animals do goofy things, and we love them. The dog has learned sit and stay, they cannot read the sign. It is a JOKE meant to lighten up the situation. I am all for animal rights, and I have no problem with this. I do have a problem with a preachy vegan, multiple bigots, and a bunch of PETA operatives. These animals are not harmed, not abused, and no matter how well trained, they will still be naughty, just like humans. Calm down, take a course in tolerance, turn down the ethnocentrism, and the egotism, and then kindly get over yourself.

    • http://yahoo lyn johnson

Are you serious??? This is so funny and we love our pets thats why we do it calm down GEEZ>>>>>

      • Tatiana

You love your pet you are delusional Lyn

  • J

Oh Emm Gee … seriously….WOW…..need air…..laughing WAY hard!!! I have several pets and this is just a creative way for LOVING pet owners to vent about the real life issues that come up with our babies. No different than the funny vids we see of kids in all kinds of situations. Truly, lighten up, no animals were harmed in the making of these….the animals started it Mom!!!! *wink*

    • Tatiana

You are a d1ck. The animals are harmed you are not a behaviorist so shut your moronic mouth.

      • haliee

Nope. You’re the moronic bigot here, so fuck off

    • Sibyl

I completely agree with you. No animals were harmed in the making of them. And its exhausting to keep up with animal antics sometimes. In order to not get mad or frustrated or angry at the pets, humans vent this way. Its not about bad training either, most of these things are just pet quirkyness, or bad puppy behavior. Like a child who gets into things sometimes it makes us laugh to see what a mess they’ve created and its one of those things thats almost unbelievable. Dogshaming is just a way to laugh off some of the frustrating things we deal with as pet owners. They cant be good all the time, they are always in a learning process about what is right and what is wrong.

I think dog owners shouldn’t be attacked for finding a funny way to deal with pets who get into the trash when we arent looking, or run off and eat dirty underwear, or barking at a doorbell on tv.

The dogs don’t know any better. And they don’t know they are even on the internet. It’s these random quirky things about our pets that are the reason we do LOVE them.

So if we choose to post a picture of our dog to create a little comic relief, I don’t think we should be harassed for it.

You people need to stop being so uptight, and find a sense of humor.

Anyone who says that they have perfect kids and NEVER get frustrated at them every once in awhile is a liar.

  • john matacola

i really dont think the dogs can read those signs so their souls(?)wont be bothered. at least no one is beating themor chainingthem to a tree

It’s clear you forgot to take your medication today precious, but MaMa forgives you. Now take your pill and go lay down and while your drifting off to sleep ponder this…. People who own cats a far more likley to be single. Sweet Dreams !

please, crazy dog people like yourself have no life. Dogs are useless and will just $hit in a den.

        • haliee

WIll a cat help you hunt or fairs the house?

        • haliee

          Oops, guard

    • Tatiana

Typical italian dullard. Dogs are smarter than you and certainly smarter than retarded pea brained smelly cats!

  • JJ

Notice there’s no “Cat Shaming”? I will never figure out why on Earth people own dogs – if you want a pet that will do “all the same things” as a dog with less mess, noise, work and stink, then get yourself a cat – they will love and adore you just as much! Indoor cats will beat up your furniture though – lol

    • big mike

      well said!

      Dogs are awful!

      • Tatiana

FAAG mike! Men with cats are notoriously gay ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Glad I don’t live in the U.S.

        • haliee

    • tw

except i can’t breathe when there is a cat within 50 feet! they are cute but from a distance.

  • Deborah

STUPID!!! Air your own dirty deeds if you want so much attention, but let the dogs keep their little indiscretions to the privacy of their home!
Seriously? what some people will do to get on you tube.
We, [the dogs person]are supposed to love them as unconditionally as they love us. why do “you” want to shame anyone??? Especially your most loyal friend. Makes no sense to me.

    • Anonymous

      1. They can be on youtube all they want, it’s Tumblr they’re on though. 2. Your “most loyal friend” did it on his own, and I don’t even think they know it’s a punishment. It’s people like you that causes dogs to be spoiled and do stuff like this. I mean, your dog must be a brat.

      • Tatiana

what a sociopath You should be put in jail if you own a dog and if I see you I will kick your arse.

    • Tatiana

I agree with your response, Deborah, BUT the united States is NOT A SANE society-OBVIOUSLY.

  • GG

people with way too much time on their hands.

    • http://yahoo lyn johnson

your on here so stop your high and mighty attitude

  • Matt

I could think of a few billion people who need to be publicly shamed before these dogs do.

    • Tatiana

Yes, Matt but more importantly, dogs are innocent beings who are placed in unnatural surroundings forced to live with these obscene idiots who should be incarcerated for animal abuse.

  • http://yahoo keith quiocho

    • http://yahoo lyn johnson

OH so tell me how to not make my two dogs gay???? Seriously…Don’t suppose you have an answer for this do you

      • Tatiana

Not sure you were being tonguein cheek but if not then You are a psycho. Gay is Unnatural and i am not a christian, jew or muslim. I am a scientist. No species of animal will be homosexual unless forced into unnatural conditions despite what the gay run APA thinks; it is a disturbance and only in the U.S. does everyone ignore that.

        • Holly Stevens

Many species of animals will exhibit “gay” behavior. In nature, male lions will mount other male lions when females are not available. Check your facts!

        • haliee

Wow really? You can’t be a scientist. Or at least a real one. Learn some tolerance and take a real biology class ya bigot

        • haliee

Also, it’s quite the opposite. America and a few middle east places are the most intolerant of homosexuality. It isn’t only Europe and Australia that support homosexuality. I hate people like you

        • Tim

I don’t like homosexuals either. I am an athiest too. I don’t agree that animals do not exhibit homosexual behavior though. They absolutely do. Wow that rhymes.

  • ikluder

I think we should do this to our children.

    • Ilaughinyourfacewhenyourmad

Some people do shame there kids

      • Victoria

Please, if you are going to post, learn how to spell and structure a sentence.

        • iamsol

Lighten up Victoria. This isnt the Wall Street Journal.

  • anne vitasek

That terrible! you should not treat your pets badly! they are mans best friend!

  • diana

If your dog is a jerk, it is because your a jerk…. the pet is clearly acting out just a child would, try being a better parent. Pets are part of the family, look at that way, and seriously, it would not be any other way.

    • Wig

Dogs act out, not always are the owners at fault. Is it your fault if you let a responible kid drive to a movie and their friend starts drinking? No. Just as it’s not always the owners fault for a dogs bad behavior. It happens. Thats like telling someone with dyslexia that their grades are bad because they are stupid.

  • Ilaughinyourfacewhenyourmad

this cant possibly worse then dying the dogs hair and painting there nails and dressing them up in clothes? Some people do shame there kids its just not a slide show on the internet but the locals get to see it and might pop up on the local news if they see it but thats it. What happened to dogs just being dogs, im sure the extra clothes are making them hotter, and there confused as to why there fur seem to be a shade darker then what they remember (i know ther color blind) but people frost there cakes and cookies, yes cakes and cookies my grand mother told me the dogs ate human food not the harmful kind but what they could eat and they lived long healthy happy lives I think now a days everyone takes things to the extreme and yes I have dogs and yes there happy and healthly and house trained but at time they just get into things no animal is perfect and the fact that people are getting strollers and car seats and everything else thats retarded for dog that is an issue for me what happen to walking is good for you? That applies to the dog too. So focusing on this is dumb i thought thipost was going to be something extreme. SMH relax people!

  • Anacreon

The dogs are still smarter than Kathie and Hoda!

  • Jade

Hey people… They ARE JUST DOGS they CAN’T READ , ITS a JOKE.,.CALM DOWN PSYCHOS jeez!

    • debbie carter

Dog shaming if people think dog shaming going to keep their dog from eating shoes and messing on the carpet think again you have a better chance at teaching you dog to drive a car

    • Anonymous

      NOT FUNNY!!!

  • jeanie

Dependingon the breed if it affects them. Small breeds that are lap dogs actually can get into a spiral of bad behavior because they are pleaser type of dogs. Bigger, more domineering dogs don’t mind.

And for the morons that don’t get this… You are probably the darn psychos on the road AIMING for helping four-leggers, so just SHUT UP!

    • Sibyl

ANY dog is capeable of bad behavior.

  • Anonymous

If you do shame your dog SHAME ON YOU!!! YOU ARE.HORRIBLE!!! How stupid are you!!!!!!!!!!

    • Wig

Smarter than you. Though thats hard not to do. Internet troll.

  • Sibyl

I don’t see what the big deal is.

No animals were harmed in the making of the photos.

  • Nefertari

The cure for dogshaming? Dog TRAINING.

    • Michelle

These pet owners should be required to sit next to signs of all the messed up stuff they do. Sit next to your dog with his sign and see who’s worse. Fido: I chewed up the newspaper. Dan: I hired a prostitute and snorted two lines of cocaine last weekend.

      • Sibyl

Haven’t you seen the sign’s people have to hold when they steal or disobey parents. Look on the internet, its out there. Some law enforcement agencies make people stand in front of the establishment they stole from and hold signs saying what they’ve done. Most of them are teenagers. I think that’s more shamefull because its not just a silly photo on the internet they have to stand there for hours and let people yell nasty shit at them.

    • Wig

Yes, because training fixes it all. Dogs do all sorts of things for a variety of reasons. Mine are trained, but they still eat the $15 pair of shoes instead of the ones that cost me five bucks. They still bark at the smurfs and they still chase cats. because they want to. Now please stop masquerading as an ancient egyptian pharoh and get off your throne.

  • Michelle

Dogs are some of the most sweet and faithful creatures on the planet. Why complain about them? Are these people that stressed out that they can’t handle their dogs following their natural instincts? Seriously work on correcting the problem rather than posting unfunny pictures on an idiotic website.

    • Shannon

If my dog stressed me out, I wouldn’t have adopted the little hooligan. Shame on you for taking something funny and lighthearted and trying to make a case out of it. Focus on your own dogs, hopefully you’re nicer to them since you seem to be SUPER judgemental of your own kind.

  • Shannon

Were only SUPER judgemental of idiots like you.

      • M

I assume you mean “we’re”, not were. I ABHOR YOUR CRUELTY TO PUNCTUATION!

See, some perspective is a good thing.

So is actually explaining why you think you’re correct, instead of expecting people to agree with you just because you say so.

  • Itsjustme

I only came onto this site cause a family member saw one of the dogs making a face like her dog and thought it was ‘hilarious’. I have a cat. I love both. No one is harassing the animals, they are making light of life situations. If you really take life that seriously, and have no sense of humour, spare us all and stay off of the internet. People who can’t laugh at life die younger than others.

  • Kim

Pleeese… It is all in good fun. I have dogs and cats.. I think the site is cute and funny… And anyone who takes the time to do the “shaming” loves their pet and is sharing their “antics” with everyone and hoping to elicit a laugh from us.. and it works.

  • Carolyn

Oh for goodness sake!! I cannot believe that people are up in arms over some cute/funny photos of pets on the internet!

The humans who posted these photos DID NOT HARM THEIR BELOVED DOGS (or Cat)!. In fact, these photos prove that their ‘humans’ adore them, love them, and treat them as one of the family.

All who are ‘morally outraged’ – I offer you the opportunity to work with me in the sex offences/child abuse unit of a local police station. I’ve done this for over 23 years. Prior to that, I worked as an investigator for the RSPCA. If you think that these photos of dog-shaming are absusive, then you have never in your life seen images or witnessed the act of true abuse to animals by their so called human pack members. Would you like me to post photos of the dog who had the lower halves of all four legs cut off – whilst the dog was alive? Or the Labrador who was beaten close to death then drowned by a prominent lawyer over here? Perhaps the Shetland pony which was dragged behind a car on Christmas day? Better yet, come and witness some of the child abuse images I study & investigate on a daily basis.

These dogs are doing what comes naturally. The fact that those who are posting them are proudly displaying the mischief tells me that they consider these pets to be cute, adoreable, naughty, and have their own little personalities. None of these animals look abused (physically, or emotionally – yes there are tell tale expressions and body language).

People lighten up. There are worse things in the world than photos of naughty dogs. Pull it back into perspective. America has larger issues with the homeless, your healthcare system (or lack of it), appalling literacy rates (as does Australia – even Cuba – where I’ve spent some time – has a higher standard of literacy), and those nutters who want to get into government and control women’s reproduction (Australia, NZ, the UK refer to Romney, Ryan, Akin, Santorum as the American Taliban).

Here’s an iphone app named “Shame on U” which allows you to create the picture and caption and submit directly to dog-shaming:
