Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck has one message for any hypothetical gay teammate.

Speaking to CNN, Luck says that he would have “absolutely no problem” with an openly gay teammate. In fact, he says that he hopes the NFL, and his team in particular, are open enough to allow such a teammate to be open with himself and the team.

He goes on further to say that he hopes people would treat this hypothetical teammate no differently than anyone else:

“I hope if someone’s thinking about (coming out), that if they do come out as gay and it makes them happy and it makes their life easier, then I think they should do it. It’s the 21st century, and I know I would have absolutely no problem with it. I hope no one would treat him any differently than any straight player, no special treatment — he’s just another guy.”

Even if Luck has no problem with it, professional sports teams are still largely devoid of openly gay members. Of course, that doesn’t mean there are no gay players on these teams. In early May, former NBA player Charles Barkley said that there were many gay NBA players and that he had no problem with it.

Going back to football, Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson spoke out on gay marriage last week. He said that he has no problem with those who are gay and that he loves his family members who happen to be gay. Despite that, he said that he’s “not with that” when it comes to gay marriage.

This whole gay acceptance in professional sports is just getting to be ridiculous? Why do sports writers keep asking these idiot questions? What do you mean is it acceptable? It would be completely acceptable for the gay athletes to completely SHUT UP about it. If they did, I’ll let you explain to me what the problem would be if no one knew because no one was asked.

    • charles

The issue is whether one continue living under the cover of darkness of dishonesty so that the unwarranted (religious?) demonizing can continue or for that same one to live in the light of truth and honesty. A truth that people can see for themselves that contradicts this demonizing effect. True Christ like behaviour demands full openness and honesty, no exceptions.

    • Bill

You are right on. The self rightious holy rollers should just shut up.

  • micky

Andrew if you are saying this because the team is making you say this then I understand, but if you really mean this I will not watch you any more and you need god in your life

    • Thomas

He’s saying it because he’s educated and not a gullible idiot told what to believe like you.

    • Wes

Plenty of people have God in their life and support gays. There’s no reason you can’t have both.

      • http://Yahoo Michael

It’s not a matter of support man, it’s God!!! I support the fact that homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. This is what God says.

        • smalone

michael i shall be holding the gate open for u when u get to heaven. if u make it that far, dude. cuz god doesnt like that u eat shellfish and whats some of the other things u do that are in the bible. i mean really now what are u wearing? is it linen or cloth. is it wool? watch out dude, u need to be careful. cuz god is lookin’ at ya.

I am a male and being gay is not for me. I believe that there is a reason why God made both males and females. If there wasn’t, he would have just made us all one sex. Having said this though, as long as gay people respect my preference, I should respect theirs. It simply is not a person’s place to tell another human being what to do with their life. This is why God gave each one of us individual free will. We all choose our own paths in life and are responsible for the choices we make.

The thing we really have to be on guard for is the evil that comes from judging others. American society is full of hate. We judge people that we have never met and don’t even know. Our hateful rhetoric often leads to real suffering and harm.

To me, dealing with others is actually pretty simple. If a person is good to you, then you should treat them good. If a person isn’t bothering you, then don’t bother them. If a person treats you bad, then get away from that person.

This applies to straight or gay people alike.

    • bobby willard

well, gays did not chose who they are, and to be honest, I believe the Bible states that God created ALL mankind, which would include gays. Beside that, most of your statement is very good. Your attitude, I like. Just don’t have that assumption that gays have a choice, because they do not. Still, I like your attitude, and yes I am gay.

      • H.D Thatcher

Well if fudge packers and pole smokers dont have a choice, neither do the other perverts that infest our world. I guess you condone all their :LIFE STYLES” as OK? Tearing the moral fabric of this great nation seems to be your goal. May God have mercy on you and your like.

  • Ben

I have been a professional wrestler for over a decade. Its still an athletic endeavor, where men share locker rooms, and train together. Wrestling has plenty of openly gay members. I am not gay, and to be honest: I get paid to much, train to hard, and risk my well being to much to give a flying f#*k if the guy I’m working with is gay, or not. Who cares?

  • Gin Baba

ALL G/L’s are for Hell fire-So say all Holy Books. No exception, no excuse and even their supporters. Filthy rags. Save you home and kids from their filthy shadows. It appears to be a Media/zionists plot to weaken the Good Christian World.

    • Thomas

      You religitards are hilarious.

      • bobby willard

Oh, my…gosh. You sound like a nutcase. You seriously do. And to think this is supposed to be representative of what good Christians behave like? You attitude alone with get you in hell faster than you realize.

  • Milan

The fact is homosexuality is sick, depraved, and immoral. Everybody knows that. The homosexuals themselves know that. But, like all people who do bad things, most of them want to continue doing bad things. However, some reform themselves and go on to live normal, decent lives. And those are the only ones worthy of calling themselves human beings.

    • Name

The bible talks about not judging others or you will be judged. There is a reason why this is the case. The “good” people in this world simply are not that good and the “bad” people in this world are not that bad.

Christ fundamentally knew this and that is why he says we are ALL in need of his mercy. Even the self-righteous.

All of us are Christ’s children and it is not up to us to decide who is worthy of being called human beings.

    • bobby willard

From your hate of other human beings who are not just like you, you should not be called a human being. Gays know no such thing as their being bad. Its mindless idiots like you that persecute them for being a part of society. You judge based on a misconception and declare them unfit when you know nothing about most gays. How can you call them unfit when you do not even know them?

    • Michael

Thou shalt not judge lest ye be judged.

  • Michael

The government should not be in the business of “Marriage”. Period. However since they do. It should be a Civil Union for all people who wish to be unified as One. And if you choose marriage for Religeous purpose. Then do so by going to Church. All people deserve the right for equal treatment. And the final commandment of my Savior was to love all as he has loved me. No judgement. Unconditional love.

    • bobby willard

Religion has not had hold of marriage forever. Government has been in charge of marriage way before Christianity even came into being.

    • dog

What if they believe in a God that doesn’t hate His own creation?

  • larry gann

so either he is also gay or he doens’t mind taking a shower with a man who might be sexual towards him..

    • a1guest

Hmmmm, Larry. How many times have you ever heard of a professional athlete (or any two men or even kids in a high school gym shower) “be sexual” in a locker-room shower? If you trying to say being gay is not “moral” that’s your business. Then stick to whatever life style and sexual positions and appetite you prefer. I’d also counter your argument by saying that ANY athlete is also being “immoral” if they are in a committed relationship with a woman and they giggle or get off on porn and make fun of the guys on the team in the locker room or bus who don’t. And they are total scums if they are married and get off by “spreading their seed” in every away-game town with the groupie girls or their mistresses. But you NEVER see any articles about that nor do you see comments such as yours when the abuses are so-called heterosexual.

    • dog

…or, he’s far more comfortable in his sexuality (heterosexual) than you are, Larry.

  • Tawny Jones

    Hey, Luck: Sick a duck.

  • http://webpronews/life ernest degroff

gay in the dictionary means happy…in any common sense language..ernie

  • Alonzo

Gay people are sick. Yeah, mentally sick. They need psychiatric help. No question about it.
What amazes me, is when gay people try to make excuses to justify their sick behavior.

    • bobby willard

What amazes me is that idiots like you do not know your own butt from a hole in the ground.

  • http://webpronews/life ernest degroff

the consensus may be to educate our next generation to be tolerable to the corrupt ways of the world, but in the end the truth will prevail and your children will be witnesses to your promiscuouse ,adulterous ways..and how u would rather believe a lie and be damned…the world today is not only justifying the wicked so they can continue to be weel spoken of,and be accepted in the corrupt changes in our society..but so did other people in other countrys, when hitler took them over and the traitors went along with them….what ever u sow ,that u will reap..God be merciful to us…Ernie

  • lawayne baker

Luck does not purchase tickets. We do. I and many others in that locker room would have a problem.

    • lawayne baker

those who dislike my comment are the men who wish to be female and wash to watch men in the shower. Hell no we don’t want you in there.

  • http://webpronews/life ernest degroff

everytime the defenders of ungodly ways want to cover their sins they say don,t judge….the next time u steal,or kill, or drive intoxicated and get caught, don,t forget to tell the jury to not judge.or u will be judged…When righteous judgment is in force the people rejoice…when the ungodly are in rule the people mourn…ernie

    • Philip

Um… no, when they say they don’t judge, they are living by Christ’s example; Christ said “don’t judge”.

You’re behaving like the Pharisees who tried to stop Jesus.

      • http://Yahoo Michael

The Christians will be the judges my good man. It’s not judging when God’s word say specifically homosexuality is an abomination. I’m not judging, God already has.

        • bobby willard

God did not say it is an abomination, Leviticus did, and Leviticus is not God. Tell me something, you say those are the words of God, yet they knew nothing of dictation back then. And most common people did not, were not allowed to, know how to read nor write. So, how do you know those are God’s words, exactly?

      • JustinC

Philip,I support marriage equality, but I have to admit you dodged ernest’s point. Is ‘judge not’ an all-encompassing principle (because if so, it WOULD rather play havoc with the justice system, among other things) or is it selective? And if the latter, how are the selections made and who makes them?

    • http://Yahoo Michael

Yes, Andrew you should be politically correct to maintain your team. It’s so uncool to call homosexuality a sin hence that it is an abomination. The far-left media led by the president have adopted this radical viewpoint, as a 21st century enlighted, elitist viewpoint. Just understand, besides being called an abomination to God in the Old Testament and an unnatural act in the New Testament, this immorality was rampant, and would help bring down the Roman Empire. 21st Century????? Are we not moving backwards? As far as those who as you say “coming out”. Your living a lie that completely goes against God’s creation. Please, except God’s salvation through Jesus Christ and have everlasting life.

      • Steven Williams

You state that “Gays are living a lie that completely goes against God’s creation.” Please specify the exact Scientific Study, in what Publication, that agrees with you. Simply quoting “The Bible” doesn’t work because that’s the Bible of one religion and there are many Bibles of Many Religions. Thank you.

      • smalone

dang michael. cya in heaven if you even get there dude. hypocrite is what u are.

  • Ben

Tell me, if Adam and Eve had to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in order to understand the difference between good and evil, since they were innocent prior to eating of the Tree, then HOW CAN THEY BE GUILTY OF SIN FOR EATING OF IT? IF THEY WERE INNOCENT OF WHAT IT MEANT TO DISOBEY, HOW CAN THEY BE GUILTY? It took the magic of the Tree to make them know the difference between right and wrong, so how can you hold them responsible? Nay, how can you SENTENCE THEM TO ETERNAL TORMENT if they had NO KNOWLEDGE of right and wrong?

Now is the time where you employ your cognitive dissonance. Meanwhile, I’ll repent if God shows me he is real:

GOD! REVEAL THYSELF! IF THOU WOULDEST ONLY REVEAL THYSELF TO ME, I WILL FOREVER SERVE THEE!

There’s a reason we don’t believe in your God. He NEVER ANSWERS SUCH CHALLENGES! There’s a reason YOU do: you were TOO YOUNG to question it when you were taught it. (I wonder if God will get arrested if he actually did “reveal himself?” Hmmm…)

  • http://www.webpronews.com/author/chris-richardson Chris Richardson

I’m glad to see these discussions bring out the enlightened and tolerant in us all…

  • Johhny P

Enough with the SOFTBALL PC questions! Ask him a difficult question: “Would you accept a teammate named Tim Tebow?”

  • Turry

I cry foul. If he was getting eye balled or if the sugar was tongue kissing his boyfriend outside the locker room door, he would flip. Every Real Man would.

    • http://www.webpronews.com/author/chris-richardson Chris Richardson

But if it were two girls tongue kissing outside of the locker room, we’d all be fine with that, right?
