Zoe Saldana, star of such notable cinematic endeavors as “Avatar”, “The Losers”, “Colombiana”, and the “Star Trek” remake is ready and willing to tackle a brand new adventure: motherhood. Isn’t starting a family is the next logical step after starring in so many motion pictures involving death, mayhem, and destruction?
“I love the anxiety, the pressure of the loud room full of yapping kids. But I’m a kid myself. I get along very well with animals and children. I dig them, I get them,” Saldana told US Weekly. “They make perfect sense to me. A child makes perfect sense to me. A child speaks more sense than an adult half of the time.”
Before dating Bradley Cooper for three months — the couple just recently ended their relationship — Saldana was eager to start a family with her ex-fiance Keith Britton, a man she spent 11 years of her life with.
“For years he wasn’t ready. Then when he got ready, I didn’t have time,” Saldana explained. “I never held anything off because I was waiting for something to kick in. I don’t think that far about tomorrow. I felt the urge to want to have a baby, and I wanted to, but I remember that respecting his decision — and making the decision to wait with him — was one of the most mature things.”
If she’s still looking to get the proverbial ball rolling in the baby department, I’m sure there’s no shortage of willing suitors currently on the market. “Star Trek 2”, in which Saldana reprises her role as Nyota Uhura, is currently in production. Look for the sequel to arrive sometime next year.
