Zelda Williams has been relatively quiet about the loss of her father, comedy icon Robin Williams, since she was the victim of some cruel words via social media last year. News of Robin's suicide garnered shock and disbelief across the nation, and while his family is still struggling to come to terms with it, his daughter says she's trying to get back to a place where she can be happy.

"It's going to take a lot of work to allow myself to have the sort of fun, happy life that I had, but that's important. Anybody who has ever lost anyone works very hard to continue that memory in a positive way," she said in a Today show interview.

Williams' wife, Susan, released a statement about his death last summer, acknowledging that the enormity of her loss would be felt by his fans.

“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions," she said.

Zelda Williams--who took a break from social media immediately following her father's death, but later returned determined not to let a few people hurt her--also said in the interview that she recently got a tattoo in memory of her dad. The ink is of a hummingbird, which reminds her of him.

"They're fun and flighty and strange It's hard to keep them in one place and dad was a bit like that. Keeping a conversation in one moment was impossible with him," she said.
