I have written quite a bit about the problems that the Playstation Vita has been having. Since the launch of the handheld system, the numbers of units purchased has been completely underwhelming. Besides the complete lack of abundant AAA titles that the playstation brand has become synonymous with, the other thing they have been missing is awesome apps. They have started to remedy that situation with the release of a native Facebook app and now we finally get YouTube.

The new YouTube app for the PS Vita is fairly robust with nearly everything you could ask for. The only problem that I have heard about is that some people are having problems getting their favorite videos list to synch up. Other than that it works as advertised. You can watch the videos in 2 different modes. The small screen mode which is shown above offers you the Like or Dislike buttons, Suggested Videos, Comments and Information. Full screen mode, which is shown below, features a control panel that will be displayed on the screen, which will allow you to easily expand or minimize videos. Additionally, an HD button will appear when playing high definition (up to 720p) videos. Simply tap on the HD button to switch from HD to SD.

In addition the Playstation Vita offers some great features that you would expect from a YouTube app:

– Recommended Videos: Displays videos recommended from YouTube

– Search: Search for videos by typing a keyword

– Viewing History : Displays the most recent videos you’ve viewed

– Add to Favorites: Displays a list of videos you’ve added to your Favorites list. You must be signed into your account to add a video to your Favorites.

With the YouTube app you can finally have the freedom to watch cat videos wherever you want to!
