Square Enix, like pretty much every other gaming publisher, is at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. The publisher used the event as an excuse to release another story trailer for its last major title on current generation consoles – Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
The latest trailer reiterates much of what we’ve already seen in past trailers. Lightning returns to a dying world and is given 13 days to help move the citizens to a new world before their current world ends. She will run into some resistance, however, including Noel from Final Fantasy XIII-2.
The trailer also gives us another look at the new combat system that borrows heavily from Final Fantasy X-2’s Dressphere system. In this game, Lightning will change costumes on the fly to gain access to new abilities. As an added bonus, those who preorder the game will gain access to a special Cloud Strife costume that will undoubtedly unlock some special bonus abilities.
If you happen to find yourself at Comic-Con this weekend, you’ll be able to check out Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII for yourself. For everybody else, the game will launch on February 11 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
