Yahoo named Raymie Stata as its new CTO today. Stata is a 5+ year veteran of Yahoo! and formerly its chief architect, and will be taking on the CTO role to oversee all of the company's advanced technologies and drive the technical direction of Yahoo, a representative for the company tells WebProNews.
"Raymie has been instrumental in driving key technical and product initiatives at Yahoo!, including Search, the new APT advertising platform and the development and deployment of Yahoo!'s massive cloud infrastructure," the rep tells us.
"Raymie will work closely with Chief Product Officer Blake Irving and Chief Scientist Prabhakar Raghavan to ensure that Yahoo! creates the best technology to deliver engaging consumer experiences and value to our advertisers," she adds.
On the company's Yodel Anecdotal Blog, Yahoo says:
As Yahoo! has grown, so has the company’s infrastructure needs. As Chief Architect, Raymie led transformative efforts to rewire Yahoo!, moving from a set of vertical silos to a horizontal platform infrastructure. As this strong foundation is laid, we’re ready to leverage the world’s most diverse collection of content to create innovative, more personalized consumer and advertiser experiences around the globe.
And as our business has expanded in scale and complexity, Raymie has provided technical insight and direction throughout the engineering organization. With his leadership, technical Yahoo’s have focused on core challenges like creating a stable, agile development environment, extracting value from masses of unstructured data, developing scalable global experiences, and architecting a cloud to serve as the foundation for every click across our network.
Stata joined Yahoo in 2004. His role as CTO is effective immediately.
