World War I doesn’t get a lot of love in video games. It’s understandable to a point as it’s hard to make any of the battles in that conflict “fun.” That being said, WWI can serve as an excellent backdrop to a narrative-based game, and Ubisoft is doing just that.
Ubisoft this morning announced a new downloadable title called Valiant Hearts: The Great War. It’s a 2D adventure game powered by Ubisoft’s UbiArt engine – the same engine that powers Rayman Legends and Child of Light. Here’s the official synopsis:
This is the story of 5 crossed destinies and a broken love in a world torn apart. All of them will try to survive the horror of the trenches following their faithful canine companion. From the green forests of the French countryside, to dank trenches and snowy fields, go back through history in this emotional adventure as friendship, love, sacrifice and tragedy befall each one as they help each other to retain their humanity against the horrors of war.
