Tina Fey Offers Up Drawing For Fundraising Campaign

Tina Fey is best known for her sense of humor, but she’s also got some visual arts skills. The Saturday Night Live alum joined a fundraising campaign in honor of three little girls who perished in a tragic housefire in 2011, hoping to help bring art education into schools where programs are seriously underfunded.

The group, LilySarahGrace, was started by the girls’ father, Matthew Badger. He says his appreciation for the arts came when his daughters all exhibited signs of dyslexia and were helped by visual art.

“This campaign is all about promoting the joy of creativity. I just think it is really awesome that so many creative people showed up for this and took the time to do a drawing. The family of LilySarahGrace suddenly just got so much bigger! I hope this campaign furthers our reach into the classrooms across America. The country is filled with public elementary school teachers that are desperate to bring the arts into their classrooms. They know how art creates a love of learning for their students,” Badger said in a statement.

Fey recently received quite a compliment from fellow actress Reese Witherspoon, who named the comedian and writer as very influential to her.

“One of the biggest inspirations for me was reading Tina Fey’s book. It was a very—she said, you know, if I can help one other woman create something in Hollywood, I’ve done my job. And I hope to have that same goal, you know, just to create opportunities for other women to tell their stories, because women aren’t just girlfriends and wives, you know, in movies, to big leading men. Those are great roles, but I feel like women are much more complex than that. And I’m excited to be able to help them get their stories to the screen,” she said during a Fox News Sunday interview.
