Three Dog Night, the 1960s and early 1970s band known for hit tunes like ‘Joy to the World,’ is mourning one of their own. The band’s keyboardist, Jimmy Greenspoon, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday. He was 67.

According to a report from People magazine, it was only about five months ago that Greenspoon announced he was fighting metastatic melanoma.

Three Dog Night issued a statement regarding his passing and their mourning via their Facebook page.

A day later, Three Dog Night featured a tribute to Jimmy Greenspoon on their page.

In addition to Jimmy Greenspoon, Three Dog Night was comprised of lead singers Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, and Chuck Negron. Joe Schermie played bass, Mike Allsup played guitar, and Floyd Sneed was the band’s drummer. Schermie died back in 2002.

Three Dog Night is still touring and recording. In fact, the band performs about 80 concerts a year. The present line-up features original members Wells, Hutton, and Allsup, along with longtime members Paul Kingery and Pat Bautz.

Condolences are no doubt going out to the remaining members of Three Dog Night on the passing of Jimmy Greenspoon. He will likely be honored by his bandmates in upcoming performances.
