With the recent releases of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dishonored, and Splinter Cell: Blacklist, it appears that the stealth-action genre is making a comeback. Square Enix earlier this year announced that the king of PC stealth gaming, Thief, would soon be getting a reboot. Though some Thief previews were shown at E3, few details about the game’s style and story have been revealed, leading to some skepticism from Thief fans.

Today, Square has finally announced a release date for Thief – February 25 (February 28 in Europe) for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game is being developed by the same team that created 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Players will take on the role of the thief Garrett as he navigates a city torn between the wealthy few and an oppressed underclass. The wealthy are ruled by the Baron Northcrest, while the poor are led to revolt by a man named Orion.

Along with the announcement, a new full-length trailer for Thief has been released. Though it doesn’t show gameplay, it appears to show that the art style and setting in Thief may be similar to last year’s Dishonored:

On a fun note, the trailer does contain some of the visuals leaked in a demo reel from an Eidos Montreal artist all the way back in June 2012.
