“The Purge” may have just opened, but considering it took only $3 million to make and raked in over $36 million, it’s not surprising that producers are already plotting out the sequel.
The film, which tells the story of a family trapped in their home when the city runs amok during a government-instituted 12-hour period where anything goes–even murder–stars Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey. Helmed by Jason Blum, who did “Paranormal Activity”, the movie hasn’t gotten the best reviews so far; however, horror films rarely do, and considering the success of the “Paranormal Activity” films, it’s not too far off-track to believe the same won’t happen for this one.
Insiders believe the sequel may be out within the next year.
