Seven people were shot at a home in Spring, Texas, Wednesday evening, and six of the victims died from their wounds.
A brief standoff between the suspect and authorities ensued after a car chase. Harris County police used two trucks to stop the suspect’s vehicle on a cul-de-sac near the site of the shooting at 711 Leaflet Lane in the Enchanted Oaks subdivision.
The surviving victim, who had a gunshot wound to the head, told police that the suspect was a family member, and had left to go assault another family member who was at work at a nearby restaurant.
Harris County Precinct 4 Assistant Chief Deputy Mark Herman revealed that three children were killed at the scene. Three adults and another child were medivaced via Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. One child passed away at the hospital, bringing the total fatalities to six. The ages of the deceased ranged from 5 to 40.

So far, deputies called the shooting a “domestic dispute.” After a roughly 30 minute chase with the suspect, he remained sitting idle in his vehicle while surrounded by deputies with guns drawn and at least a dozen patrol cars. A large SWAT vehicle then rammed into the suspect’s car, crushing its front end. A second SWAT vehicle pulled directly behind the suspect’s vehicle and rammed into the back of it, wedging the suspect in.

Police said the suspect, who is in his mid-40s, had a handgun and was holding it to his head. They were speaking with the man via cell phone.
