If you’ve been anxiously awaiting the day that you can purchase breakfast, lunch, and supper from Taco Bell, the wait is almost over. After announcing plans to start offering breakfast last month, the Taco Bell breakfast menu will launch on Thursday, March 27 at participating locations.
Many Taco Bell customers are thrilled that the chain is finally offering breakfast, as competitors such as McDonald’s and Burger King have offered a breakfast menu for years. If you’re expecting to show up at Taco Bell and order some of the traditional fast food breakfast staples, such as biscuits and pancakes, then you may be disappointed, as Taco Bell is offering some menu items that you aren’t likely to find elsewhere. (And if you do know of another restaurant selling Waffle Tacos, then by all means, share.)
According to the Taco Bell breakfast menu posted on the company’s website, you can choose from items such as the Waffle Taco, Breakfast Burrito, and Cinnabon Delights. Taco Bell will also offer the A.M. Crunchwrap and A.M. Grilled Taco, which are breakfast versions of their traditional menu items.
Taco Bell hasn’t been slack on their advertising efforts and has been using Twitter to spread word of the new menu. If you noticed the hashtag #breakfastphone on Twitter lately, you can thank Taco Bell, as this is part of their breakfast menu campaign. Taco Bell sent 1,000 customers “Breakfast Phones” and all of the customers are getting secret, time-sensitive missions that involve tweeting about the phone using the hashtag.
The phone itself is nothing impressive–it’s just a prepaid Tracfone Samsung T404G–but the people selected to participate in the Breakfast Phone challenge have chances to win Taco Bell breakfast menu themed prizes such as Waffle Taco clothing and bedding. That sounds strange enough, but apparently strange works, as this is a pretty cheap method of advertising that has gotten plenty of attention.
