Suge Knight, co-founder of Death Row Records, was pulled over in Beverly Hills early on Wednesday morning after police noticed him straddling the line in a truck with no tags. Once they pulled up his info, they discovered he had a warrant issued a while back for failure to appear in court, and his license had been suspended. Knight was arrested but later released after posting $20,000 bail.
Knight has had several arrests on his record, but the last couple have been for routine traffic stops. In 2010 he was arrested for failing to appear in court on a different charge, but before that he did prison time for parole violations on assault and weapons convictions.
Knight is well known to many as one of the last people to see Tupac Shakur alive; the pair were in Las Vegas together when Shakur was gunned down in 1996. After Shakur’s death, Knight fell out with several of the rappers in his core group–including Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg–and Death Row Records filed for bankruptcy before eventually being sold in 2008.
