Stink bugs are taking over the country and people all over the world are complaining about them.

The bugs will try to move into homes, garages, cars and any other warm areas as the temperatures outside drop and the bugs have been known to smell horrible and wreak havoc on your home.

Stink bugs have a reputation for being hard to kill and remove from your home, but these three tips can help. If you are unsuccessful in removing the stink bugs on your own, you may need to call an exterminator.

Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous Earth is used to get rid of a lot of different types of insects and is a natural exterminator. Diatomaceous Earth is actually a type of rock and when it comes in contact with the stink bugs it gathers on their exoskeletons and draws in the moisture that coats their bodies. Eventually the insects dehydrate and die. Sprinkle the Diatomaceous Earth wherever you see a large number of stink bugs gathering. Some will carry it back to the nest to kill many others.

Garlic Spray

Stink bugs do not like the smell of garlic and if you spray a mixture of garlic and water in an area where the bugs are living, you may be able to repel them from the area and even your entire home. Add 4 tsps. of garlic to two cups of water and spray in the desired areas. Your home may smell of garlic, but that’s better than the smell of stink bugs.

Mint Oil

Stink bugs also hate the smell of mint oil and you can repel them by spraying a mint oil spray or adding a few drops of the oil to locations where the stink bugs are found. Add about ten drops of mint oil to two cups of water and spray in the desired areas.

Stink bugs can be tough to get rid of, but it is possible. Try one of these natural removal methods before you use harsh chemicals or spend a lot of money on an exterminator.
