  • Many people are skeptical about the proposed Star Wars Episode 7 (VII) movie, especially since the original Star Wars guru George Lucas is not at the helm. Lost‘s J.J. Abrams is Director of the new Star Wars film; however, Lucas is involved with the film’s character development (according to IMDb).

With the new Star Wars film set to be released in 2015, small news bytes slowly trickle in. One of the most recent news bytes about episode VII is that Boba Fett will have his own spin off aside the new episode. According to Aceshowbiz, the ruthless-yet-quiet bounty hunter Boba Fett will have his own spinoff from the Star Wars movie.

Aceshowbiz describes that Lawrence Kasdan, who is slated to write the new Star Wars movie (and also worked on Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi), has been slated to pen the Boba Fett spinoff. Jon Schnepp, Director of Metalocalypse, discusses Kasdan’s role for the spinoff in an AMC Movie Talk interview (shown below). When asked about the Star Wars spinoffs, Schnepp answers:

“One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.”

J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII is set to broadcast in theatres on December 18th, 2015, and the storyline is speculated to continue after the events that happened in Return of the Jedi.

Is a Boba Fett spinoff a good idea? If you are torn, be sure to watch IGN’s discussion about the pending Boba Fett movie from an “antihero” perspective.
