In countries in the Middle East and North Africa, Google is showing a doodle celebrating what would have been the 74th birthday of Algerian-Lebanese singer Warda Al-Jazairia today. She was commonly known as simply “Warda”.
The singer was actually born in France in 1939, and died last year in Cairo after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of 72. She was given a state funeral in Algeria.
Warda was known for singing patriotic Algerian songs. Google’s Knowledge Graph has a listing of some of her work:
