EA and Maxis today officially announced the next expansion for The Sims 3. Titled Into the Future, the expansion will include many elements from the genre of science fiction. The new content includes jetpacks, hoverboards, and robots. Players will be able to create and customize their own “plumbots,” and sending sims into the past can affect their future and the future of their progeny.
Into the Future will be released just in time for Halloween, on October 22.
In addition to the new expansion, EA and Maxis also announced a new DLC pack for The Sims 3. The Movie Stuff pack includes furniture, objects, and costumes from several different famous movie genres. Themed objects such as cowboy hats, crypts, and super-powered cars will be available from western, horror, and super hero settings. The horses in the the western settings require The Sims 3 Pets expansion.
Fans of The Sims won’t have to wait quite as long for the Movie Stuff pack – it will become available on September 13.
