Shailene Woodley’s recent objection to The Fault in Our Stars’ ill-advised tagline, is currently causing the most headlines for the actress. However, fans of the Divergent trilogy should hold off on protesting about The Fault In Our Stars for one moment to enjoy the clip released last week for the upcoming movie.
Divergent is the first book in Veronica Roth’s national best-seller.Roth wrote the first book in the series while still attending college.Divergent was followed by Insurgent and then Allegiant. The film was shot earlier this year, mainly in Chicago, near Roth’s hometown. The Divergent trilogy is another dystopian style young adult novel, much like the Hunger Games trilogy.
Fans of the book only have to wait a few more months for it’s March 2014 release. Woodley plays Tris in Divergent. Tris is “a teenager with a special mind, finds her life threatened when an authoritarian leader seeks to exterminate her kind in her effort to seize control of their divided society” (IMDB synopsis). Theo James plays her love interest, Four. In the clip, Four and Tris discuss his tattoo while Ellie Goulding’s “Dead in the Water” blasts in the background.
The clip involves lots of longing stares from Four to Tris. The clip takes an unexpected turn by ending with a full blown makeout session. Woodley and James effortlessly create chemistry in this clip.
Previously, the full trailer was released. The trailer shows how Tris becomes an outcast, meets Four and how they fight against the authority. The trailer makes the movie look very action-packed, which could draw in people who have never read the series.
Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Zoe Kravit, Maggie Q and Ansel Elgort also star in Divergent.
The movie is one of the most anticipated films of 2014 . However, with several major young adult novel adaptation failures (The Host, Beautiful Creatures and Mortal Instruments), the verdict is still out on whether fans will flock to see the movie.
