Selena Gomez stays busy with her career and it doesn’t seem like she ever gives herself a break or a chance to slow down. Earlier this year, Gomez was diagnosed with Lupus. The singer went to rehab several months ago to get help with depression and was diagnosed with the illness while in the facility.

Lupus is an autoimmune disorder that causes the body to attack its own tissues and organs. The disease can cause pain, fatigue and difficulty sleeping. Doctors often advise patients to slow down and take rest periods to help deal with the fatigue associated with the illness.

Gomez’s family is very worried about her health, especially her paternal grandmother, Mary Gomez.

Mary recently talked about her granddaughter and her diagnosis and expressed her concern saying,

‘I am very worried about her. I pray to god every day for her – and all the people in our church are praying for her to get better,” said Mary.

“Selena is very stressed and concerned about her condition. I am, too. She is too busy. She needs to rest. We all want her to get this under control,” she added.

Although Gomez is trying to carry on with her life and not let the disease stop her from doing the things she wants to do, a source close to the singer said that she was very upset to learn that she had the disease and that it was not curable.

“She was so distraught and really freaked out when doctors told her there was no cure and she would have to live with it for the rest of her life. She’s been on meds ever since,” said the source.

Although her family and friends have confirmed that Gomez has the disease, she has not released a statement to her fans. It may be that she is not ready to talk about it or share her struggles with the world or she may just want to keep her health problems private.
