  • While running errands in Los Angeles on Thursday, Selena Gomez was approached by a woman who served her legal documents that were assumed to be a subpoena to appear in court in a lawsuit against Justin Bieber.

According to a source, the papers were in fact a subpoena for the former Disney star to appear in court to testify on the events surrounding an alleged claim filed by a paparazzo that Bieber “physically attacked” him in 2012.

“Selena has been ordered to appear on April 23, 2014, to be deposed in Los Angeles,” the source confirmed.

The lawsuit was filed in June 2013 by Jose Osmin Hernandez Duran. The photographer claims he was attacked while snapping pics of Bieber and Gomez in the parking lot of The Commons shopping center in Calabasas, Calif.

The suit alleges that Bieber was trying to move his Mercedes Sprinter van out of a parking space through a flock of paparazzi but could not get out of the space because they were blocking his exit.

According to the complaint, Bieber yelled, “F–k off! Get out of my way!” at those gathered around and finally lost it. He allegedly leapt out of the van, sprinted toward Duran and “delievered a martial-arts type kick” to the photographer’s lower-left rib cage.

Bieber is said to have punched Duran in the face and pushed him back against a parked car. The suit claims Duran said, “‘Justin, you don’t have to do this,'” while trying to block any further attack.

According to the claim, Gomez got out of the van and yelled, “‘Justin, stop! They’re taking your picture!'”

At the time of the incident, no criminal charges were filed.

According to E! News, Selena will be questioned about “anything she observed before, during, and after the May 2012 incident with Duran and Bieber.”

Gomez will also be questioned about her “relationship with Justin, then and now,” “if she ever witnessed any use of Justin taking controlled substances,” “if she had seen any episodes of violence or anger involving Justin” and about “conversations she had with Justin concerning the Duran episode and any other legal proceedings.”
