Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are apparently going strong, but something that isn’t is Selena’s friendship with Taylor Swift. What’s that all about? These girls have been friends for years. Suddenly Selena and Justin are back together and Taylor is nowhere to be seen.

According to a report from Hollywood Life, it’s a bit of a complex situation. It seems Selena feels like Justin is a better friend to her than Taylor.

Now this will definitely strike people as odd–especially in light of how Justin treated Selena Gomez in the past year or so, prior to their reconciliation.

“Despite Justin’s flirtations with other girls, Selena still feels like Justin is a truer friend than almost anyone else she knows. She feels like most of her celebrity friends are not legitimate. Justin makes her feel important,” a source tells the publication. “Taylor is off and on and in her own world. She’s friendly with Selena when it’s convenient for her. They rarely see each other. Plus, every five minutes, Taylor ends up getting upset with Selena over Justin. They are more like acquaintances with similar interests than besties.”

As recently as May, however, Taylor Swift spoke very highly of her friendship with Selena Gomez.

“It’s been the longest one I think either of us had really,” she said. “When your life changes and you become thrust into this really strange whirlwind where what your life is different from what other people think your life is. And your life is commented on and your life is written about and fictionalised and all that. Both of us have kind of stuck it out and hung in there through all the different changes we’ve gone through.”

“Longevity is something you really can find very precious and rare in friendships,” the ‘Shake It Off’ singer added.

Has something happened between Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift that no one knows about? Taylor lost faith in Justin Bieber when he was doing drugs and getting in trouble–something Selena apparently never lost. Perhaps he is the reason for the distance between the two friends?

Meanwhile Selena is said to be enjoying hanging out with Justin Bieber’s friends–including Cody Simpson. Thankfully Justin has better friends now than the ones he was hanging out with during his troubled times. People like Lil Twist and Lil Za brought nothing but chaos and illegal activity with their so-called friendships.

Is there hope for resurrecting Selena Gomez’s longtime friendship with Taylor Swift? Could it be possible that the two really are still great friends, but careers and distance are presently a bit of an obstacle? Taylor is presently living in New York. Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are in California. That’s not exactly a ‘come hang and have coffee’ kind of span.
