It’s no secret that Tina Fey can do a spot-on impression of Sarah Palin. She has amused audiences on Saturday Night Live for years with her jokes and impressions, but there is one person who is not amused, and that is Sarah Palin.

Palin has been the butt of many jokes, but Fey’s seem to get the most laughs and some people have even suggested that Fey’s jokes may have swayed the 2008 presidential election.

Sarah Palin doesn’t think Fey is funny and she also doesn’t think Saturday Night Live matters as much as the cast and producers think they do.

“I think SNL is egotistical if they believe that it was truly an effect on maybe the public debate about who should lead the country in the next four years,” she said.

Some of the SNL cast members think otherwise. Former cast member Horatio Sanz said that he felt that Fey’s impression of Palin and other cast members’ impressions of other political figures did have an effect on public opinion and could have the power to sway an election.

“As funny as Will’s impression was, the audience as a whole, the whole country, would probably see that as, ‘Oh, I like Bush. Because he’s Will.’ You know, if Will hadn’t done that impression, or at least made him likable, it may have tipped it the other way. I honestly think so. We made up for it. I think Tina’s impression basically killed Sarah Palin,” Sanz said.

There have been several studies conducted on the subject and all of them show that voters seemed to like Palin less after watching Tina Fey’s impression of her.

Palin believes that she helped Fey much more than Fey’s impressions helped or hurt her in the election.

She said, “If I ran into Tina Fey again today, I would say: ‘You need to at least pay for my kids’ braces or something from all the money that you made off of pretending that you’re me! My goodness, you capitalized on that! Can’t you contribute a little bit? Jeez!’ ”

Of course Palin was just joking.
