The role was already filled. Demi Moore was slated to play Gloria Steinem, a leader in the women’s liberation movement, for the new movie “Lovelace”, but the Moore left the film due to personal problems.

The films title star, Amanda Seyfried, took it upon herself to fill the role vacated by Moore.

In an interview with Contact Music Seyfried stated:

“(Moore) was ill so she couldn’t show up. When we found out she wasn’t coming to work, we were just like, s**t! But the fact is, she couldn’t come so we had to find somebody else and so I emailed Sarah Jessica Parker myself…. I feel like (casting is important) when it comes from a personal point, everything’s so business-y and you have to find some kind of connection in this business if you want to get what you want. I really, really love her so I just emailed her. It worked – something happened – she came, she showed up a couple days later. And she is badass in this role.”

It’s unclear why Seyfried felt the need to jump in the role of casting director, but it’ll be interesting to see how Parker does in the role.

Along with Seyfried and Parker, the film also stars James Franco, Sharon Stone, Peter Sarsgaard, and Eric Robers among others. Lovelace is slated to hit theaters sometime later this year.
