Paula Patton and Robin Thicke rarely shy away from expressing the extent of their love for one another. On various talk shows, the couple gushed about their marriage. Their life together seemed like a scandalous fairy tale, but apparently the fairy tale has gone bad.

Patton and Thicke met when they were in high school, and managed to maintain a relationship throughout their teen years. They married in 2005. People magazine reports that Patton and Thicke have split after nearly nine years of marriage. They have one son together, Julian.

In September, rumors surfaced of Thicke’s infidelity. Life and Style magazine obtained an exclusive interview with a woman named Lana Scolaro, who claimed Thicke cheated on Patton with her. Scolaro, a British socialite, told the magazine that Thicke hit on her at a party. Weeks later they ended up in a hotel room, but didn’t have sex because they kept being interrupted. Prior to this interview, pictures circulated on the internet of Thicke groping Scolaro. At the time, a rep said that Patton and Thicke were not concerned about the allegations; they said Scolaro just wanted attention.

In January, pictures once again surfaced of Thicke’s possible unfaithfulness to Patton. He was photographed dancing suggestively with a mystery woman, and it looked like they shared a kiss. Whether infidelity resulted in the demise of their marriage, the world may never know.

However, the world does know how often they expressed their love for one another. Thicke used Patton as his video girl in the video for his “Lost Without U” track.

On the Jay Leno show, weeks after the cheating rumors, Patton supported Thicke by expressing her happiness for his success, and how she appreciated the nudity in his “Blurred Lines” video.

In 2011, Thicke told talk show host Chelsea Handler on Chelsea Lately that he used music to ensure his sex life with Patton stayed active.

In their exclusive statement to People, the couple said, “we will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”
