Back in October, Kelly Clarkson tied the knot to Brandon Blackstock, Reba McEntire’s stepson. Not long after, Clarkson revealed that she and Blackstock were expecting their first child together. Now, Clarkson has opened up to talk about her relationship McEntire, and how she considers her, not only a mentor, but a friend as well.

“It’s like your friend is becoming your mother-in-law and your mentor! You know, she’s a big mentor for me, too, not only musically but professionally,” Clarkson said. Kelly also admitted that McEntire was always one of her childhood idols, and how it is so surreal now to be a part of her family.

It seems as though Reba has gained several new titles this year. Not only is she now a mother-in-law, she will also be adding “grandma” to her list of names, seeing as Clarkson and Blackstock’s bundle of joy will be arriving sometime in the coming year.

McEntire even took the stage with Clarkson and Trisha Yearwood, to sing a rendition of the Christmas classic Silent Night , while Clarkson promoted her newest Christmas album Wrapped in Red.
