Ray Rice Injured, Suffers Hip Flexor Strain

  • The Baltimore Ravens’ offense endured quite a scare during today’s game. However, the trying moment had nothing to do with winning or losing the game. Ravens’ lead running back Ray Rice suffered a non-contact injury at the top of the fourth quarter. He hit the ground in excruciating pain. Then, after being examined on the field, he stood with assistance, and limped off the field to the locker room. The Ravens’ endured the rest of the game without little means of stability in the running backs’ department.

Although Rice’s injury may have looked quite devastating from afar, things could have been a lot worse. Fortunately, Rice was later diagnosed with a mere hip flexor strain. According to NFL.com, Ravens’ head coach John Harbaugh informed reporters that at the moment, no MRI would be scheduled, but the injury would be closely monitored throughout the coming week. Since Rice went untouched at the time of the injury, the nature of his hip injury definitely raises concern and probable cause for continuous observation.

While all injuries are taken seriously, the diagnosis still serves as a sigh of relief. Although there was no time restraint placed on Rice’s return, it doesn’t appear that he’ll lose much momentum this season. Not to mention that even with Rice’s injury, the Ravens’ still went on to defeat the Cleveland Browns 14-6. So, at the end of the day, the good outweighed the bad, and the Ravens walked away ‘whistling Dixie’. But, with tight end Dennis Pitta out of commission with a preseason injury, and wide receiver Anquan Boldin’s trade, let’s just hope the Ravens’ offense doesn’t suffer anymore blows to their ground game.
