R&B singer R. Kelly is working on a follow-up to his controversial, multi-part musical “Trapped In The Closet”, which gained cult status after the videos went to DVD in 2005. The series, which started as five songs on his album TP.3 Reloaded and evolved into 22 “chapters” spanning two DVDs, tells the story of a one-night stand and how it eventually uncovers a web of sex and deceit.
The singer teamed up with IFC to premiere the original series and is doing the same with the next batch of chapters, which will debut this year and will reportedly add 32 new episodes to the series. Kelly also has an album and a memoir due out in 2012.
“When I first began experiencing the unknown journey of writing ‘Trapped in the Closet,’ I knew after the first chapter that I had tapped into something that was not of this earth,” Kelly said. “‘Trapped in the Closet’ fans put on your seatbelts ’cause ‘Trapped in the Closet’ is coming to take you away.”
Twitter reaction was mixed, but for the most part fans are excited to hear of a comeback.
