Perhaps after this script fiasco, everyone will be too afraid to mess with Quentin Tarantino again. The director is certainly not having a good week after having his script leaked, and he has since taken legal action over the situation.

Quentin Tarantino had recently finished writing a script for an upcoming film called The Hateful Eight, and from there things have taken a turn for the worst.

He takes his films very seriously, and after the script was leaked by someone who has not been determined yet, he refused to continue to make the film – cancelling the film indefinitely.

The critically acclaimed fan favorite director revealed that his next film would be a western, following the success that he had with Django Unchained, and it was recently given the title of The Hateful Eight.

Shortly after it was revealed that it was leaked, the script became available on the website Gawker Media. Quentin Tarantino obtained this information, and has taken action, and claims that the site made a business of predatory journalism, which violated people’s rights to make a buck.

As a result, the director is suing Gawker Media for copyright infringement and contributory copyright infringement after the blog linked to the 146-page script of his Western. In the lawsuit, Tarantino asserts that “This time, they went too far. Rather than merely publishing a news story reporting that Plaintiff’s screenplay may have been circulating in Hollywood without his permission, Gawker Media crossed the journalistic line by promoting itself to the public as the first source to read the entire Screenplay illegally.”

The film was set to star a handful of actors that he had worked with before including Christoph Waltz, Michael Madsen, and Tim Roth, with the addition of the veteran Bruce Dern. While he cannot be sure of what happened, he thinks that Dern’s agent may have been the one who leaked the script.

Quentin Tarantino is seeking an excess of $2 million dollars. The documents say that he has suffered irreparable harm. He is pissed off about being betrayed with his script, but is set to put it behind him, and claims that he has 10 more where that one came from.

Unfortunately, for fans that were excited for Tarantino’s next film to be The Hateful Eight, they will have to wait for a different film. However, he did say that may change his mind and still make the film at some point in the future. The one thing that is for certain is that The Hateful Eight will not be the next film that he releases.
