A shooting inside the Potawatomi Casino has left one woman injured and another arrested.

Fox News 6 reports that a 23-year-old Milwaukee woman was shot in the leg at the Potawatomi Casino. The incident, which occurred Sunday morning, left the woman with non-life threatening injuries. The alleged shooter – a 27-year-old Wauwatosa man – was arrested on the scene after witnesses said he fired a handgun.

Witnesses at the scene complained to the local news that the casino security did nothing as four to five shots were fired. The same witnesses said that security only ushered them out of the building after the shooting. After that, the casino was shut down between 2:30 to 3:00 a.m.

The Potawatomi Casino issued the following statement about the event:

“Potawatomi Bingo Casino had an incident on its gaming floor this morning. We are deferring to the Milwaukee Police Department for specifics. The situation was secured immediately.

We are thankful no one was hurt more seriously and that the situation was contained quickly.

Response by local law enforcement as well as our security team was outstanding. Potawatomi Bingo Casino will continue to cooperate and assist throughout investigation into this extremely isolated event.

The casino closed temporarily and will reopen to the public at 9 a.m. Sunday. First-shift team members should report to the casino as scheduled.”

The police are currently investigating the shooting. As of now, there have been no new updates.
