Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres have been a major topic of discussion all year.

From alleged marital problems, cheating scandals and time in rehab to reconciliation and baby rumors, the couple has made headlines for everything under the sun.

Now, they’ve decided to take a different approach toward addressing the rumors about their personal life, reports E! News.

On Tuesday, Oct. 14 the Scandal star appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where she and her wife set the record straight about the baby rumors.

“I know everything about you, obviously, so we had viewers write questions,” Ellen said.

“One of the main things that everybody is asking me about, and asking you about, and I thought I would let you clear it up, is if we’re having a baby or not? So, I thought maybe you should answer that question.”

The 41-year-old Australian actress quipped about the possibility of them having a baby, saying it would “so fun for everybody if we were.”

“They want us to have a baby,” Ellen agreed. De Rossi held up a tabloid as a prime example of the rumors. “Did you see? It says, ‘They’re finally starting a family!’ Are people really that mad at us?” she asked.

“Yeah, we’ve waited way too long,” Ellen said. “Clearly,” de Rossi quipped. “Yeah, so um, no.”

“We’re not gonna have a baby?” Ellen jokingly asked. “No, we’re not,” de Rossi replied. “Good for me to know now,” Ellen said.

Although the couple has dealt with several rumors this year, the baby rumors seem to be the worst of all. The former Ally McBeal star revealed speculation was so heightened her own brother began questioning her about whether or not the claims were true!

“My brother called me and said, ‘I heard I’m gonna be an uncle?'” she recalled. “There was a tiny little question in the word ‘uncle,’ because he didn’t know. But he’s not gonna read it on the cover of a tabloid.”

Ellen even said her assistant “asked if I’m keeping something from him because it’s so prevalent.” “Everyone assumes we really are having a baby and we’re just not sharing it,” she said.

“This is just one big act, you know?” de Rossi quipped. “That’d be pretty clever of us,” she said.

Then of course, Ellen had to have one last laugh about the rumor, but made it clear the rumors are false! “But we’re not having a baby…or are we?” Ellen joked. “No, we’re not,” she clarified.
