Joanne Bradford, Pinterest’s head of partnerships, spoke at the Digiday Platform Summit on Thursday, and talked about the gender balance on the service, the early days of Promoted Pins, and how it’s working to grow its sales team.

She said they’re already seeing improvements in men using Pinterest in the U.S., and are working on making sure the platform has broader reach and appeal.

On Promoted Pins, Bradford expressed surprise at just how invested partners have already been in making them work. They’re spending a lot of time creating pins and making sure they get them right, she said.

Bradford also said that Pinterest is working to make sure more partners can use the product, and is actively hiring and building a sales team.

As you may know, Pinterest recently began testing self-serve Promoted Pins as well. Last week, they gave more businesses access to these.
