Pinterest, Now with 100% More GIFs

Earlier this week we told you that Pinterest was currently experimenting with GIFs, running a small test with a handful of users. It looks like that test went well, because the social site is now rolling out GIF functionality to all users.

“There are already tens of millions of GIF Pins on Pinterest, so you’ve got plenty to choose from. And, approximately a million people a day on Pinterest are exposed to a GIF a day. Go ahead and send your friend a bit of midday hilarity or start collecting all your favorite GIFs, so you’re armed and ready to unveil them when you’re in the mood for a good laugh,” says Pinterest.

All users will now see a play/pause button in the lower left-hand corner of GIF pins. Hooray!

Right now this only works on the web – but it is coming to mobile soon.

GIFs are so much a part of internet culture these days, social sites would be crazy not to at least think about experimenting with them. To me, Pinterest’s visual interface seems perfect for a bunch of GIFs (kind of like Tumblr). Let the games begin.
